Really wanted him to stay. It seems as though any Charlton related news at the moment inevitably winds us up.

Good luck to him. He will never be Chris Powell in the eyes of Charlton fans, but he came across as a very likable and friendly gentleman.

I should add, im not hoping he fails, it would just be a shame for him to lose the sudden reputation he has built in English football by snatching the first job offered to him.

Given the turnover of managers and coaches he might do better to wait for a club with a bigger budget. The Blackpool owners are known for taking money out of the club to fund other businesses and rumoured to have just six players signed for next season.

  • A very similar opportunity to the Charlton job, will be a good measure of whether RD made the right choice.

He may have a little more power to manage in the Blackpool job - not compared to last season, but to this.

He won't. And I say that as a fan of his, but the whole situation at that club is nuts, I can quite honestly see the entire thing imploding/exploding rather messily.

Sacked a Manager, put in someone who has no managerial experience in the Championship
    Barely survived
about to lose their best player, who is a midfielder on a free transfer

    Sounds a bit familiar

Be interesting to know what independant observers would see as currently the most attractive / best chance to move forward job between us and Blackpool at the moment ?

If they are British im sure they would say Blackpool is the safer bet. ;-)

Both clubs have owners who are viewed with a degree of suspicion and a fairly weak squad but possibly Charlton edge it because of the potential?

Managers talk, its that sort of industry.

If Paul Ince says something bad about a Chairman, it probably doesn't hold much weight.

If Chris Powell says something bad about a Chairman - the vast majority of football people with some common sense will listen.

Therefore Blackpool could very well be seen as a more attractive proposition.

RD us trying to build somethign at Charlton, we may not agree about how he is going about it but he is seemingly trying to take it in the right direction, Blackpools directors are taking money out of the club and seem to have no vision, so Charlton would be the better bet with a choice.

For me this decision by Riga, if confirmed, questions his decision making, it could be a short career in England.

Agreed, my joke was about the average British football fan/pundit/manager who would probably choose dodgy british owner over foreign owner because foreign wrongly tends to be seen as an automatic negative, especially foreign with fresh ideas(the horror). ;-)

    What a crying shame !

Although I wish Jose all the very best in his career with an English club, I really can't see him at Blackpool.

Kiss me Quick hats, candyfloss, Hen parties with their delightful habits.....M. Riga is far too classy for all that !
