A good man...a man of integrity for whom you could only wish the best of success.1
-
Loveliest guy going - him and Pritch in Marbella last year spoke to my kids for what seemed like 15 mins , and were so friendly and interested in what my kids were doing. It was a very humbling (cue BP) time for me.2
-
Good luck to him, will not forget his playing days but we are in a better position now.2
-
all the success in the world except when you play us0
-
It must be so difficult for him not to slip up and say Charlton through habit.0
-
I wish Chris Powell the best. Now is his time to shine at a club that won't be as forgiving as CAFC were.
I hope he is up to the challenge.1 -

Who is this numpty? No disrespect to OP but When we came up with them in 2012, all of their players had to be minimum 6ft 6" and were basically a more efficient version of Stevenage. All of that free flowing football going through Nihou is lovely on the eye????shirty5 said:

I am a Powell fan.
In the main Charlton Life and ITTV are (very)anti Powell.
It will be very interesting to see how his time with Huddersfield pans out and whose views are considered the more justified.1 -
Ok thats one relegation spot sorted , bump this in january :-)0

Some fans can go far too extreme over Powell, some love him to bits and regard Huddersfield as their second team now and the other fans despise Powell and would laugh if he fails. I was gutted to see Powell sacked but football is a business at the end of the day and we had to back the new owners, the football under Riga was probably better than Powells football in the end so I accept sacking Powell was probably the right decision. I still think he was very hard done by, given the previous owners made it difficult for him in the end.
I hope he does well for himself as he gave a good service to the club as a player as well as a manager and I will certainly look out for the Huddesfield results from now on just out if curiosity.8 -
Congratulations to Chris and Alex on their new appointments.
Huddersfield have panned for gold, and found it in bucket loads.
Goes without saying that Big Bob is now our future but we should never forget our past and the huge contribution that "the gaffer" made in both his playing days and at the helm should not be underestimated.
We have all had our favourites down the years but SCP (yes!) must surely rank very high in a list of those we have respected & loved ; his friendliness off the pitch, his honesty, his dedication & his obvious love of our Club make him one of the most respected figures in my time as an Addick. And I'm certain he will quickly become a legend for the Terriers too.
A very special man indeed.
And simply the best.

I dont think any fans 'despise' Powell - how could they? - but there are fans that recognise that (some of) the football served during his tenure was poor to say the least - even the 101 points year from Jan to be honest (cue pelters) was tedious most of the time.DiscoCAFC said:Some fans can go far too extreme over Powell, some love him to bits and regard Huddersfield as their second team now and the other fans despise Powell and would laugh if he fails. Good luck to the nicest bloke in football4
-
Well at least we will see how good he really is now.1
-
How anyone can aim criticism to him now or rejoice in any failure that may happen are not proper charlton and that's fact
This man gathered us from a position I never wish to see again and was instrumental in getting us to this period of progress
It stopped working what he was doing
The players hold as much of the blame hence why they ain't here now they were league 1 players in the main
Have a word with yourself and remember this man was and is one of us24 -
Living not too far from Huddersfield (yes, I know you pay my benefits) I picked up a copy of the local rag in which SCP says:
“As a manager, you are always working to make improvements in all areas, and if I can get the players to over-achieve, all the better.”
I believe he did that in abundance during his time and he will find a way to make Town improve.
I'm thinking of going down to the John Smiths in a couple of weeks for the Wigan match and getting a seat behind the dugout, as I did at the Valley a couple of weeks ago. I will scream abuse at that German twat dreaming that Rösler will get wound up and have a go at SCP just for being associated with Charlton. But I then wake up and remember what a cool and, calm and collected bloke he is. A different type of guy from BBP, but an absolute star all the same.
I wish him the best of luck, as long as they don't finish above us.
(And I've got the bragging rights up here, which was not the case last season!)3 -
far to many scum buckets in football that always seem to get a job and have their snouts in the trough ---PARDEW !! decent people like CP deserve their days in the sun (unless its playing against us in any format)10
-
I am really happy for him. I was never a huge fan of the Manager Powell. But as a decent human being he is one of the best. A man with integrity and morals.2
-
I *think* it was a good interview that Piggy posted but I couldn't understand the questions being asked??3

It hurts slightly seeing him talk as he does about another club. And wearing their tie. Got something in my eye. Respect, Chris. I wish you well and will always wish there were more men of your respect and attitude in football5

Good luck Chrissy0

Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all fiona
I ran out of patience with his style and tactics and I refuse to solely accept that the interference was wholly to blame also
Football is as much about timing and fortune as it luck and tactics
It just all stopped working together at the same time
It's a new start for him coincideing with a great new beggining for us so far2 -
Still having a monkey on them to go down then?The_President said:

Agree NLA. I also believe, as you say, he is one of us and will be enjoying seeing us doing well, us fans enjoying it and some of his players being part if it.
Good luck Chris, just not against us.4 -
