This match sums our season up.
We have the opposition by the balls in the first innings but fail to finish them off. Then only a couple turn up to bat in our first innings and the same can be said in the second.1 -
Think it was when we started laughing at Surrey it went all wrong !!!1

On a side note, our nephew got the Essex 2nd XI player of the year award last night.
Also scored his first runs (5) in first class cricket but lost his wicket for the first time as well.
He was suitably merry last night at Jesse Ryder's leaving do.4 -
Yes but, relatively speaking, given all their resources, overseas players, fantastic youngsters, they have hardly done better than us. Have they?MrOneLung said:Think it was when we started laughing at Surrey it went all wrong !!!

Think thats a good signing. Still only 28, and yes he hasnt had a great time of it at Middlesex, but if he can start reproducing some of the form we know he is capable of then will score plenty of runs.0

And for those who don't believe things 'til it's on the OS.....Addick Addict said:Looks like Joe Denly is on his way back:

Seen quite a lot of Joe Denly over the last few seasons. Nice timer of the ball but rarely offered solidity in Middlesex's middle order. Shame because he fitted in well at the club and was decent in the field. He's probably more suited to 2nd Division Championship cricket and he should average around the 40 mark next season. He is still a very useful one day batsman and is capable in that format of taking on most domestic attacks. His innings v Somerset at The Oval (Middlesex played a "home" game there) in T20 this year was superb. Good luck to Joe for the future.1

Should be quite competitive, the battle for batting spots next season0

shame about the bowling mind, we wont get anywhere with just claydon as our only real pace bowler.0

Yep. Somewhat surprised by this news (as I thought he might move to pastures Sky) but Key has been re-appointed as Captain for next season:killerandflash said:Should be quite competitive, the battle for batting spots next season

But signing Denly at least gives us the option to bring in an overseas strike bowler as we did with Bollinger last season. Also, if Griffiths can stay fit that will be a bonus as he is probably the fastest bowler we currently have on the books.000__Jaaaaay__000 said:shame about the bowling mind, we wont get anywhere with just claydon as our only real pace bowler.
