Guy Luzon - now with Israel U21s, but maybe not for long? p9

I've decided to support Luzon 103%.
It just seems right.2 -
Ok. You could argue that we could have saved all the bother and just had Luzon for Powell and skipped the middle 2 appts. But fact remains that since Powells sacking we have gone from bottom of the table no hopers to genuinely looking up from a solid mid table position. And playing our best football in years with a tactically astute manager.Henry Irving said:

He deserves credit too.
And most importantly of course, we have a good pitch and pulled pork in the burgers.
Jokes aside, how can Roland (along with Guy) not take credit. People get all sentimental and would rather Powell was managing a team with Jackson in centre mid every game but the fact is the current formula - from the chairman to the manager to the players - is working.
Some people need to swallow their pride and be happy with it.14 -
It's the first time in a long time that I feel like the club's got a direction15

The Players are behind him 100% and so am I thats good enough for me1

They won't though Damo it doesn't fit with their conspirathy theories.DamoNorthStand said:

It's almost as if some want us to lose so they can be proved right.
Sad really.5 -
I hope your right, I really do.ValleyGary said:It's the first time in a long time that I feel like the club's got a direction
We can't pretend the 3 months without a win and a flimsy squad didn't happen.
Watt,Johnson,Eagles and Diarra have given the squad some depth.
Cousins playing centre mid, Henderson coming back.
Bulot getting a chance, Gomez showing what some of us knew that CB is his position.
Fox improving, Solly thou not at his very best is playing more games.
Vetokele has 11 goals and can still improve his overall game.
If Wiggins could every stay fit, he offers so much going forward.
Over to you Katrien and RD to give us our number 9 to complement our improving forward line.
This close season will answer a lot of questions about who stays or comes in.

12 months ago Luzon wasn't available for he was top of the Jupiler league with Liege trying to win their play-offs and a place in the Champions League...just as Riga is right now!
Let's not pretend we are something that we are not. We were in League 1 just a few years ago and up until last June we had a squad which was, in the main, put together in League 1.
Katrien Meire stated they tracked 25 players last summer but that it was very hard to get players and agents to take us seriously until Vetokele, Gudmundsson and Buyens arrived.
It will take hard cash and improvement every year to restore the reputation of CAFC within the game. The higher we finish this time the more the executive should be able to retain and acquire decent talent to add to what they have already built.
This summer we will be an entirely different proposition but we do not yet know if Staprix will fund that with a higher player budget and significant transfer fees. Given that Luzon has made an excellent start and that a number of our top players are on top deals then it appears rational to see him backed with whatever is needed to have a crack at 75 points in 2015-16.
When I say higher playing budget and fees, I'm talking an additional £5-10M funding to cover fees, renewals and contracts on top of the existing losses. That's a big ask just to buy a 25% chance in the play-offs.
But we can see Luzon is a winner and that most of our top 18 players are either under contract for next season or looking for one (Diarra, Eagles). And our best 18 are streets ahead of what we've watched over the last eight seasons.... How many 3-0 wins before everyone sees it? At long last this club is going somewhere and I trust that the momentum continues over the summer.
As for why/how Peeters got the nod over Riga last summer, we don't know. And we move on!

Completely agree... Isn't it insane how much the overall feeling on here has changed since Guy took over?! Admittedly I was fuming when he took over and am perfectly happy to admit I was wrong.ValleyGary said:It's the first time in a long time that I feel like the club's got a direction
I remember the night before the Brentford game I got back to my house after a night out with two of my mates, completely pissed and lectured them both (tbf they were interested) on what was going on at the club and how we were doomed for a good 45 minutes, think I ended up falling asleep in front of the Pride and Premiership DVD that night in despair... Haven't looked back since!
Love it.

Was never not going to get my support from afar, I said it at the time and will repeat it, if a manager with a win % that Luzon has had been given the job by Murray, TJ and slater he would have been given all the chances in the world to fail or succeed1
-
Guy Luzon doesn't come from the scum or have any connection to the vermin so he gets my support

As NLA says, there would never be an occasion where I would openly not support a manager ie booing or chanting before he had been given at least a chance.0

The guy has been a total revelation since he took over. Well done indeed. Also well done to KM & RD for appointing the best man for the job. The future looks bright.3

Bit who else did they interview for the job? That's the burning question.Red_Pete in Dubai said:The guy has been a total revelation since he took over. Well done indeed. Also well done to KM & RD for appointing the best man for the job. The future looks bright.
I demand a meeting with the Owner to get to the bottom of this.

It's just a pity the sneaky way the club appointed him (regarding phantom interviews) and the whole "work permit" mess, made a lot of fans turn against him before he'd even had a chance. Credit to the bloke, who has won over the doubters the hard way.Henry Irving said:Some people were backing Luzon 100% from the start though not just when we started winning : - )
Long may it continue...........5 -
The reason Guy was given about 5 minutes to prove himself( I gave him 10 !)
Was the reasons given By Tango Flash above (9.22am)
As Roland Is The Owner, he had every Right to Make Luzon His Head Coach,
The process looked iffy but that's history now.
Wemove onGo forward to a better place where love and understanding between fans and Luzon/Katrien/Owner takes place ! (Lay off the happy pills Sam)0 -
A chant of 'you do know what you're doing' might be worth a shout at the next home game. Build bridges and all that.4
-
And some were singing "You don't know what you're doing" after 20 minutes. Sir Guy always had my support.Henry Irving said:Some people were backing Luzon 100% from the start though not just when we started winning : - )

My support has been conditional on results, winning is good medicine against my hostility towards Guy Luzon. At just over 1.5 points per game so far it is OK. To achieve success you need very nearly 2 points per game which is what I am expecting henceforth.12

All fair points. I've backed RD ever since he took over despite some reservations about some of his decision. And some people who are now pro-RD and Luzon were very anti- them both only a few weeks ago and were demanding action, speaking at meetings etc etc.
But what you originally said was
"Every decision Roland has made has worked since he took over"
And it plainly not the case.
I support RD and think he'll be good for us long term but that doesn't mean that I have to pretend that he didn't and doesn't make errors or that the only choices are blind loyalty to him or being labelled as "one of the anti-brigade.
Most people are able to see shades and tints not just black and white.

Agree with a all of this. RD has made some horrendous errors of judgement not least of which in the areas of recruitment and communications. , hence the disquiet a month ago but it does seem for every step backwards we are taking 1 1/2 to 2 forward. The summer again will be a big test and most reasonable fans will be able to make a judgement come AugustHenry Irving said:DamoNorthStand said:

Support Luzon and the players all the way.
Still reserving judgement on the direction/plan of the club until August 31st 2015.4 -
The Skipper JJ was the first person who said Luzon was getting his views across to the players at Sparrows Lane. Then Johann, and now Eagles has said he loves working with him because he tells the players their job is to win football matches, either Ugly or Beautifully if Possible. The aim is to win.
When Peeters critisized TBH when he ran with the ball with 5 mins to go against Ipswich,
Bob wanted to settle for a draw rather than to gamble for the 3 points. That's not how i want to watch Football at the valley even thou i have put up with that for years.
Still early days, but Luzon talks my Language Now ? ( what Hebrew ?)
My Football Language.
Luizon has my Permission to tinker for most of the season as long as he plays 2 out and out strikers at Home and plays the strongest possible team on Good Friday.
Guy knows i'm availble 24/7 for any advice, but my work here is nearly done.
Luzon has 99% support from me now after the shambles that was the 1st half against Norwich. (you had to be there)
Let's hope Luzon is given a chance to deliver, but with Roland how can you be sure ?

6 wins out of 8 is very impressive and it's clear from the performances that he has the support of the players. Problem is that we have an owner with a proven track record with all his clubs of changing his managers/head coaches as often as his underpants. Don't get too settled Guy.....Keep up the great work tho. Long may it continue. Just get a win down at the toolbox and your do for me.3
