Agreed about that. Best antidote is foe reasonable fans to cheer him and drown it out.

I agree thought Ba was excellent. Watt totally frustrated me, he missed two good chances and spent a lot of the game coasting. The main question I would ask is where are the goals coming from?

Bauer was brilliant , Makienok looks handy. Still think we need 2/3 more decent championship level players .

    Did kashi feature?

First thing he did was launch into a tackle which flattened the West Ham player he got.

Couple of misplaced passes but looked busy and comfortable on the ball.

Going to pick up a lot of yellow cards I reckon!

Also going to have to go some to remove Ba from the team. He's got better every time I've seen him. If he stays fit he could be an absolutely cracking player for us.

Liking the reports of Bauer, Ba, Makienok and Kashi. Very promising stuff.

Think we could be a handful away from home with a midfield base of Cousins, Ba and Kashi. Gudmundsson, Ceballos and Big Mak/Igor/TWWW would be more than useful on the counter.

Still need one CB before the end of the week (and hopefully a second before QPR). A left winger would be cracking as well.

Ba looked very good, doesn't really look like a footballer but is technically very good and strong. Watt was frustrating but is still a good player, makienok very strong and makes himself known. Bauer was solid, solly was good as was diarra. Thought fox did really well and looks a better player. Charles Cook is talented and could be a hidden gem this season. KAG and THD both have a a lot to offer and Lennon looked bette today. Think we will be stronger with igor back and ceballos and berdich playing. Hopefully 2 more additions and all will be good

Not a bad game at all. Good workout. Best players were Diarra, Bauer , Solly & Watt .
Dissapointed at the handful of morons ( and it was just a few) who booed Harriot . This years scapegoat seems to have been chosen already .Pathetic behaviour

I thought Fox was good. Never heard the morons

Lennon looked very good for the few minutes he had.
  • My own views:

Pope: did nothing wrong and pulled off an excellent save in the second half. Commanded his box well.

Bauer: man mountain who didn't miss a header all day. Composed on the ball.

Fox: the perennial whipping boy put on an assured performance. Difficult on this showing to see how Wiggins could displace him.

Makienok: this giant is going to be clogged unmercillesly this season. It is the only way he will be stopped. Won every header, and never saw him knocked off the ball. Knocked a few of the opposition off though!

Watt: frustrating, annoying, entertaining. Had 2 clear one-one-ones with the keeper, and fluffed his lines both times.

Charles-Cook: a diamond in the rough. I have seen him 3 times so far this pre-season, in 3 different positions, and hasn't disappointed one.

Ba: an absolute gem. Best player on the pitch, against a Premiership side. Can not see how Kashi could displace either him or Cousins. Make no mistake, this is a Premiership player!

Good run out against a decent team.

Fox was strong and got forward well. Maybe could have scored with a header early on. Solly looked Sollyish. Bauer looks very calm and Diarra played well.

Big Mak and Watt not on same wave length 1st half but improved when watt got closer to him. Some won't like the so called
"Hoofball". Still think Igor has a big part to play.

Liked Ba and Cousins. Team will be aggressive in the tackle for sure this season.

Charlie Charles didn't look at all out of place but used the wrong foot when 1 on 1.

Watt was frustrating and gave the ball away lot.

Long way to go as yet but promising so far.

we're still active in the market I'm told, in and out, so we'll see what happens bit we do seem to have some bite and fight in the squad.

    Post match views on here?

Well that was about five times better than the Welling or Dagenham performances for a start, and there were quite a few reasons to be hopeful.

Mind you, I have no idea what kind of West Ham team that was. I write this assuming they weren't the West ham U16's or something, lots of skilled players.

We played with a 442 structure I thought, and it was quite effective in it's way. I suppose it is easiest to look at the players as much as I remember them, it got a bit confusing towards the end.

Pope, good solid game except for one bit with a clearance vertically upwards, made a good tip round save second half, catching was good, no distribution problems. West hams dead ball situations were poor so not really tested there.
Solly. Played really well, great defensively, a bit of a double Cryff turn with a touch of the Messi's second half which was fun, rescued us well a few times. Love this guy.
Diarra nearly scored from a corner, so so much better that he has been pre season so far, still unsure about him there, but today he was good.
Patrick like Diarra was improved, very steady and reliable throughout the whole game, lets see how he goes, pretty good.
Fox was, well Fox was Fox, did not look out of place, decent showing.
Johan, a little inconsistent, his good was good, the other stuff no worse than average, will have a great season if fit.
Ba, superb first half, faded just a little until substituted, very good acquisition if he can do this all the time, he looks for a nice through ball a lot, but if he did that more quickly, and disguised his intent better he will be a really good buy.
Jordan, a really good general game, but a couple of actual cock ups too to spoil it a bit, no worries about him though in my view.
Charles-Cook well he has crept up sneakily on the rails hasn't he? I think he would struggle to sustain a season, but definitely keep him in and about the squad, and keep him interested. Good close play, nippy, seems to have a footballing intelligence, liked his showing a lot, has had a good pre season.
Watt see Fox, he was Watt, and all the better for it, should have had at least one goal mind you, and he ought to be annoyed by that, and determined to put it right. Good man is Watt, I like his desire and eagerness even if it doesn't always come off.
Mackienok a HUGE improvement over Dagenham, and he got better as the game unfolded. very entertaining too, a double handed push went cheerily unpunished, began finding team mates consistently as the game progressed, a watch this space player. Lets see.
Everybody played, but of the rest, well firstly the whole team(s) held their end up for the game, as we became a younger and less experienced team, we allowed different facets of play to happen, and a general positive attitude was there to see. It was however KAG who brought about a flying save from the West Ham keeper when we were very unlucky not to score from some lovely build up play.
Ahmed? Well one of his first actions was attempted murder, but th ref had a word and he settled in as a defensive midfielder, probably a 'grower' of a player.
Can't remember in my minds eye much about the others, Callum was all right, THD and others not on long enough to show, mind you seeing THD in front of Fox was interesting, I have said before I think he can do a bit further up the pitch.

I will leave it at that, the football, any comments about the other stuff at the match for elsewhere.

Just got home, was an enjoyable game to watch, we played some nice football and could have easily won it. Not a massive fan of Fox but he was a class act today solid defensively and good going forward. Bauer looks solid and comfortable on the ball. Ba was a cut above, a real all action midfielder reminded me of Ramires to a certain extent. Watt showed flashes of brilliance but as others have said he was frustrating today. Makienok looks a little technically limited but his flick ons and power showed what he can offer he was up against two massive centre halfs and won 95% of the aerial battles. Overall came away very positive for the coming season with a few more additions could easily be challenging top 6. COYR.

I thought KAG was the real silver lining today. Looks far more ready for first team football than he did last year
