Or, alternatively, put some bloody work in developing a young player in need of support. They go on and on about how they want to buy in players cheap and sell them on for a profit as better players, but they're completely unwilling to make the effort with Tony, they'd rather drum him out because he's become a problem. Now if he was going round Ben Thatchering players or doing a Dani Osvaldo and threatening teammates with bricks then sure, you have no choice, but if he's just a bit of a pain in the arse who needs to do some growing up then it's ridiculous that we'd hand him over to a rival team with all the talent we know he has. Looking at the end of last season where he performed a rescue act and the start of this one he can obviously do it. If it's just fitness then send him on some laps. If it's general attitude then work on getting the best out of the individual like every other manager in every other industry has to. But no, instead of treating him like a young man who needs some developing they treat him like a piece of equipment; strip it out, sell it for parts, replace it with a different piece (and pray the other piece works. If not sod it and do the same thing again). Can't connect with a team like that

Giving up on a 21 year old after 9 months? Well, who could possibly criticise them then. An entire 9 months! You know what, sod loaning him out, we should just take him out behind Sparrows Lane and shoot him.

Obviously what I said about making him run laps was glib, but the main point is there's no reason why Watt should be so much more unfit than the other players if he's actually being carefully managed. It's so hard to find players with a level of talent almost unique to their level, and even harder to find that in a striker. The number of people shrugging their shoulders because they reckon Watt is unfit or immature is astonishing. Talent is the key, the rest can be taught or managed with a lot of hard work and effort

Totally suprised by this. Trouble is with watt is he isnt a penalty box striker

Miere has her sales target to meet and Cardiff are interested in buying him in January so a profit beckons after only a year.

Who is the "they" though? The playing management has been in charge three weeks. Are we seriously meant to believe this is a decision for a 30-something lawyer based at The Valley, with her long experience of managing difficult professional footballers?

Baffles me on here at times.

The mention of losing a few games to give this regime a kick up they a**e and maybe change their tact is lambasted sharply the moment it's suggested. Which I understand.

So if we don't want to lose any games,then we have to hope that the current system in place ,no matter how bad or unfit for purpose it is,has the best opportunity to win games.

So what if the people pulling the strings on the playing side decide that Tony Watt doesn't fit quite right into the dressing room and the style of football we need to play with limited resources to win some games?

Igor- Decent Striker but we faffed about for so long with he's injury he wanted out. Same story as Watt apparently bad attitude, didn't want train, fell out with the manager bollocks
Vaz Tae - Who knows plucked from obscurity but has done it in small quantities before
KAG- Too early the lad needed dropping earlier but had to play on
Lookman - potential but to rely on the kid is pure stupid

Yann - no thanks been there want to be looking forward not back

Like many people I am not sure about this one. It's not just one factor, pretty sure about that. When he arrived I was very much going on Belgian reports (and Celtic mates') that he has an attitude problem, and reported that on here. He very quickly rammed those words down my throat.

So I've been very disappointed that he did not seem to be fit at the start of the season. It also rapidly started to look like there was something going on in his head too. Very bad body language as @Clem_Snide has frequently said.

Yet again…two things. Firstly he is 21 years old. Anyone older than 30 who seeks to slag off his attitude might wish to take a look themselves (or themselves at 21). Secondly, I'm thinking about Vetokele. Another player brought back into action when it is quite obvious to the most casual observer that he is both physically and mentally unfit to play.

Nah was loaned from Celtic to Lierse, he then signed for Standard Liege in the summer upon his return to Celtic
