Sheffield W v Charlton - Post Match Views

Another hiding on the road. Seems the travelling fans weren't protesting hard enough as that seems to be the only way we win.

To top it, Wolves with an injury time equaliser cost me a £150 6-team accy :-(

Look forward to hearing from those there

Fair to say 3-0 flattered Wednesday today. We were the better side for 60 minutes.

It was like playing with ten men for most of the game though. Reza was that dreadful. Can't hold the ball up, can't get into space without being offside & can't pass a ball 2 yards.

Why is this guy playing when Igor, Lookman and Mak are on the bench?

Join the club. Walsall scored twice in injury time to set mine up only for Wolves to piss on my parade.

Ultimately Riga lost it for us today. I actually think he had us set up the right way at the start (apart from Reza who was awful) and the first half sounded like it went to plan. But then it all fell apart. You could tell Wednesday were building up momentum at the start of the 2nd half and the crowd were getting into it which was crucial for them. It was crying out for Riga to make some subs - to break the momentum and relieve the pressure on the back. And he just didm't do it when he should have done. Then we're quickly 2-0 down and it's all over. Way too late to now bring on Igor/Lookie/Mak. He missed a trick.

That is the difference between someone who just understands football and someone who doesn't. Even I could see that. So elementary in my opinion.

Fulham v MK Dons in a fortnight is a huge game for Charlton - if Fulham win that and last game of season at home to Bolton, it means we'll need 12 points + 1pt for goal difference. Looks grim

Did we really expect anything less? Alarm bells were ringing (more than usual) when we saw Reza in the starting line up - a 5 year old would carry more goal threat.

Lookman deemed only good enough to come on as sub for 7 mins, yet Vetokele with no football since Rotherham (not to mention the length of time he was missing before that game) gets on for 20 odd mins.

We had a grand total of 0 shots on target.

Off the back of 7 points and 2 clean sheets and potentially we go and undo it by conceding a corner - something that's been or undoing time and time again - yet nothing done to rectify it.

    Well played you Belgian Twats.

I just spotted that fixture Mark but the reality of it is we need to put three wins together and I cannot see that happening for a long, long time. All the other teams around us are more than capable of nicking a point here and a point there but I cannot see us winning three more games all season.

Today's game along with other results has buried us... What seemed highly unlikely has become impossible!

Hopefully there's a nice big protest to look forward to against Brum , because they games from here on in are pointless

Foolishly got my hopes up after 3 games undefeated. Back to reality. Too much to do now as there was before the mini run. I am officially backing us to go down whether we win all our remaining games or not. Well done to all those who traveled once again to see zero attempts on target. This won't ruin my weekend for a change as I am currently ploughing my way through pancakes, honey and ice cream. F&£@ you Roland, you can keep your ball and stick it where the sun don't shine.

Weak performance for me. So lightweight up top with Harriott (winger) and Reza. Poor game from JBG one of our so called better players. You look to the likes of him but ultimately he's not as good as people think he is.

3-0 might've flattered Wednesday a tad, but we've been shit all season. 7 pts from the previous 3 games, the first time since August, is all too little too late.

Roll on some new league one pins

The starting line up didn't look good but Charlton were steady first half, playing well but with no goal threat.

Second half, Wednesday made a double substitution to push forward. Riga failed to respond and bring on 2 of Vetekele, Lookman or even Makienok which would have helped to provide some threat going forward and counter the Wednesday tactical move. The result is Wednesday get the goal, Charlton collapse and its game over.

Don't get me started on leaving Lookman on the bench and bringing him on again in the 82 minute or the team's inability to defend corners. What do they do on the training pitch ?

Getting the team set up right, and the ability to make tactical changes & substitutions in the game to opposition manager's tactical changes, is the mark of a good coach. Over the last few weeks Riga is proving that he lacks these skills and is yet another average head coach in a long line of network head coach mediocrity.

Preston, Fulham and now Wednesday have all made slight half time changes that alter their shape and Riga has failed to react each time.

We'd got 7 points from 9 before today.
  • Why do I suspect Meire will be happy we lost again. Firstly, she has no empathy with supporters, and she will be pleased to piss off all those that demonstrated against her and Duchatelet last Saturday.
