would be amazed if Foley doesn't get at least an offer, whether he will accept or not is another matter

Guessing he would be our rotation with Solly at right back for midweek games etc?

So halfway through this week and now a week and a half to get 5 signings. Based on rumours alone it seems the best possible team we could see for Bury could be something like:

    Rudd

    Solly
    Fox
    Pearce
Johnson (assuming Tex goes and Bauer is a week or so away from fitness)

    Holmes
    Crofts
New CM - no rumours but urgent need.
    Harriott

    Novak
    Ajose

    Bench:

    Phillips
    Holmes Dennis
    Konsa
    Foley
    Jackson
    Ba
    Lookman

With the likes of Gobern to come in, Kashi or Diarra to hopefully contribute - that team should be competing in league 1. Only issue would be will we ever see that team?

Foley seems like an early period Curbs signing to me.

Been around, not spectacular but reliable and plays in a few different positions.

He played under Mccarthy twice which tell us something as well.

No, not exciting but few signings will be at this level.

rudd has played 81 games since 2008, was prestons 1st choice 2013/14. so wouldn't be the worst signing, squad seems to be a squad that can stay in league 1 not a side that can challenge for the top positions.

    Maybe swap Harriott for Lookman

Lookman is a guaranteed starter , other up front or in midfield

    Unless he's sold.

I'd also consider swapping Johnson for Konsa

Maybe the problem getting transfers over the line is we want to pay minimum wage but the incoming players would like to earn the London living wage.

don't think wages are a problem. At least three other clubs were after Novak.

two of who were Millwall and Southend, not as if we were battling it out with Barca and Real

Reading between the lines it sounds to me like he already has. But I'd imagine the reason it's not gone through is that he wasn't more money/longer and we/Kat won't give it to him.
  • Rudd would be a brilliant signing in my opinion, highly regarded and was playing in the Prem last season. Stunned if he would want to come to us, but wouldn't complain.

The undeniable frustration to all this is our incomings have actually been very, very good business and seemingly top players for this level. It's the woeful imbalance and lack of depth to the squad that makes it all so negative. Impossible to rationalise this moronic activity. As always the way with the regime, never too far away from latching on to something good before spectacularly imploding with the usual incompetence

If rumour is true and we sold Pope for a high undisclosed fee and Rudd bought for a medium undisclosed fee then good business in a sort of undisclosed weird way

    From Twitter:-

“Charlton Athletic are continuing to monitor developments regarding the future of Wycombe Wanderers defender Aaron Pierre,”.

“Charlton Athletic have been impressed with the progress the former Brentford youngster.”
  • Aaron Pierre is the type of player we need, not washed up thirty somethings.

Aaron Pierre is the type of player we need, not washed up thirty somethings.

We need people like Aaron Pierre AND the approaching thirty year olds... We need players to lead the youngsters through the matches.

i.e. We need clever youngsters like Dale Stephens yet the experience of Matt Taylor and Leon Cort

Last season and the season before our speciality was signing unheard of foreigners who haven't played for a year or so, somehow we've managed to go one better this season and not sign anyone when you consider the amount of exits.

Certainly would love Yoni Buyens , JBG and Fred Bulot now .
Admire your half full attitude mate but for every JBG there's three Lepoints, Makienoks and Thurmans..

Oh dear god please be wrong on the Anton Ferdinand rumour!!

I just get a feeling that particular family feel as though the world owes them everything and is not the sort of player you want in your squad when trying to create a really good atmosphere between everyone!!

Just look at his attitude at the Reading home game last season

Hadn't he just been released by Birmingham, surely they weren't looking to re-sign him?
