Oxford v Charlton - Post Match Views

Not been fully following but doesn't seem a happy draw and plenty of talk of negative play.

Look forward to hearing from those there

Worst ground I've ever been to.

Slade needs to change things quicker. They were there for the taking. We tested the keeper once (may have been more but missed the first 15 mins of 2nd half for booze in take)

In a nutshell - we're just not very good.

  • The worst part of being a charlton fan is when the team is actually playing, dire dire dire!
  • I think I forgot to mention on the match thread but Russ' team selection was a puddle of piss
  • As I said just after the match... Shrewsbury and Walsall must be dire for us to have beaten them both!!

Predictable result after seeing the lineup. So obvious we'd be decent defensively and lack much attacking threat. Is Slade looking at last season and trying to fit as many "characters" into the team?

    Just not good enough.

We're only 3 points off a play off place
    Think positive

Lose on Tuesday though and if results go against us we're back in the relegation zone... Only Swindon / Walsall / Rochdale / Wimbledon need to win for that to potentially happen

And I'm one of the most annoyingly positive people on here after a result

Not good enough so far this season- to put it mildly.

  • Not there. Very decent squad so something not right. Slade is the problem not the solution.

Has anyone ever seen Slade and Mare in the same room?
  • 6 points from the next two home games are an absolute must.

The obvious team to start the next game (assuming Pearce is back)

    Rudd
    Solly
    Fox
    Pearce
    Bauer
    Holmes
    Jackson
    Crofts
    Lookman
    Novak
    Magennis

Slade's football is shite. He's reactive not proactive. Make a positive change at 1-0 and we could kill the game. Instead..

Also strange scenes near where I was standing. One obviously pro-CARD supporter having a row with a bloke standing behind him for a good 20 mins. The bloke behind was obviously very upset that people were singing nasty songs about Roland and at one stage appeared to shout 'shut up' during an extremely loud rendition of 'just sell the club'. Clown.

Really? Novak is a couple of stone overweight and Lennon was our best player today.

Have we sold Johnson, is he injured or just out for his comments?

Lennon is shite. Another result down to the manager . Bald prick
  • Other than MK. None of the league favourites won today i.e. scunny, sheff utd, bolton, bradford, millwall. This league is for the taking if any team can get it together.

Such a negative 1st half. 3 DMs and Jackson on the wing with Lookman on the wrong side.

Got a lucky but correct pen after an Oxford player stuck his arm 9 ft in the air. That was from a hopeful long ball.

Opened up after that, thanks largely to Holmes coming on, but it was 2 mediocre sides with a couple more chances so 1-1 is fair.

Oh and by the way , this car park is absolute AIDS. Haven't moved an inch in 20 mins.
Gonna be home about Wednesday if this carries on and the M25 was as filth as it was this morning

Slade's going to draw us to nice season of consolidation. I had no issues with the 4-5-1 as Magennis holds the ball up well, it's up to Slade to kick the 3 central midfielders up the arse and tell 1 or 2 of them to take responsibility to get up and support. This game very much mirrored the Wimbledon game. We looked comfortable but because we've got no end product we end up not winning.

IMO we haven't played any team yet that I thought we were 2nd best and felt under threat and we've only won 2 games out of 9. Piss poor. If the next 2 games follow a similar pattern to the previous 9 and we don't win, I'm starting to wonder if we've got the right man for the job

    Attack, attack, attack, attack, attack
