Squad is as good as any in this division. 16th is appalling.8

I had a jolly afternoon at Sixfields.0

It's a very tight table though.ShootersHillGuru said:Squad is as good as any in this division. 16th is appalling.
Charlton may be only 3 points from a relegation place - but only 3 points from the play offs.
It's too early in the season to mean anything.

Still early days and we'll go on a run at some point. I'd be perfectly happy to give Slade the whole season even if we finish bottom half.10

Two wins in nine with arguably the best squad in the division isn't great though Oggy is it ?Oggy Red said:

One of the most disappointing away days I've done. Oxford, as a place is well overrated, transport is dogshite and the people are just as rude as London folk.
The game, awful perfomance. Negitave from the off. Why take Lookman off? Lennon looked shaky.
HOWEVER
the most disappointing from all was the small group behind me, they didn't clap the team on (or off) the pitch, and spent most of the game in silence, until any anti Roland song went up and they pathetically attempted a 'red army' to drown any Anti-regime chants out. Shame on them, not fans at all.11 -

I know what you mean, Shooters - disappointing, because we all expected to be in the top 6 by now.ShootersHillGuru said:

Okay, here's the proverbial if ....... if we hadn't effed up late against Wimbledon last week, we'd now have been 6th and in the playoff places.
Or .... the last 2 away games, we've created good chances and hit the woodwork late in both games, or denied by very good saves from the keeper.
If just one of those chances had gone in either game, we'd be 2 points better off and 1 point outside the playoff positions.
Fine margins and all that.
Right now, the table is wide open to rapid change.
Let's see what happens in these next 2 home games, eh?

After 9 League One games.
16/17: 11 points. 16th Slade
11/12: 23 points. 1st Powell
09/10: 23 points. 2nd Parkinson16 -
I shouldn't comment as I wasn't there but it depends which way you look at it
9 played only 4 at home
Only lost 2 but only won 2
3 points off relegation, 3 points off playoffs
So is an away draw so bad IF they win the next 2 home games?

Maybe Slade is a 'set up to draw all away games and win all th home games.' kind of manager.
Trouble with that is having to win the home games.3 -

And as Idle jnr observed recently, anyone buying a ticket for The Valley just now deserves to see us lose.Alwaysneil said:Maybe Slade is a 'set up to draw all away games and win all th home games.' kind of manager.

This season by comparison, the team in 1st position has only 18 points.WSS said:After 9 League One games.

It's just stats though - it doesn't mean anything until 46 games have been played.

4-5-1 job today. Thanks for info. Explains why we can't score enough goals to win games.
Yet again we fail to close out match after taking the lead. Rusty tactically naïve (again) today?

Lost a bit of faith in Slade now!! Football shite tactically shite ! Has Ajose falling out with Slade or vice versa,? We have frontline but he's not using them right! Yes we didn't lose but we didn't win either and no disrespect to Oxford but we should be beating side like them and Scunthorpe too!!1

a packed defence and midfield so of course we concede a goal on the break .. somehow we were wide open and caught by a very quick player in Hemmings who laid on their well taken goal having left our defence in his slipstream.. proof that positive substitutions can work ..
as written above, we only looked dangerous when Holmes came on, far too late of course ..
a midfield of Jackson, Fred, Crofts and Foley is two old(ish) men too many .. like @ForeverAddickted I am an eternal optimist .. but Slade's negativity is becoming a bit of both a bore and a danger .. ((:<) .. we need more pace injected into a VERY pedestrian team, slow all over the park .. roll on the 'January Window'6 -
We got caught badly on the break ..... that's down to players' own discipline when committing to attack, and the need to keep the team shape once that move breaks down.wellwickman said:cabbies

Even Slade can't be blamed for that.
And I don't suppose he was too impressed himself!

if you think that you wait until the suspensions and longer-term injuries start kicking in ...The Red Robin said:The writing was on the wall in the summer. The recruitment was nowhere near good enough.

What we need is a 20-something computer geek with dodgy hair and no idea about football to advise us on recruitment. The Red Robin said:The writing was on the wall in the summer. The recruitment was nowhere near good enough.

He and his players knew that Oxford were good in the counter and played that way often, so yes he can be blamed!Oggy Red said:

Failure to have a full game plan and plan b , as well as sticking to even the basics of concentrating on the scouting reports to nullify your opponent!1 -
We're already on a run - 5 league games without a win. Something to be proud of I don't think.cafcnick1992 said:Still early days and we'll go on a run at some point. I'd be perfectly happy to give Slade the whole season even if we finish bottom half.
