Very canny to not tie herself to the mast of a sinking ship.Callumcafc said:http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/06/09/ruth-davidson-planning-scottish-tory-breakaway-challenges-theresa/
Ruth Davidson is to defy Theresa May’s plans for a hard Brexit and tear her Scottish party away from English control after the UK Tories’ disastrous General Election result.
Amid a growing clamour among senior Tories in London for Ms Davidson to be given a top position in the UK party, her aides are working on a deal that would see the Scottish party break away to form a separate organisation.5 -
To clarify I mean all your campaigning and turn up on election day in it. And there must be a picture of you in a 6ft penis costume on all promotional material and posters.cantersaddick said:
If you do it in a 6ft penis costume I will give you £1 per vote.bobmunro said:Just been discussing with my son the somewhat eccentric candidates - Lord Bucket Head and Mr Fish Finger to name but two.
I have decided that at the next election (probably quite soon) I will be standing in Stoke on an independent ticket. The purpose will be to gain sponsors for x per vote gained to raise money as part of my fundraising for Leukemia research and the Anthony Nolan Trust. I'll be sure to let you all know but just wanted to check something in case it's not allowed. It will not be an offensive name and likewise the manifesto will be humorous rather than derogatory so would appear to be acceptable. Anyone see any reason why it wouldn't be allowed?0 -
So would I.Huskaris said:Question time is a good one tonight. Shami Chakrabarti seems like she want to meet Isabel Oakeshott in the car park for afters.

Chakrabati once interrupted me whilst I was being served at royal mile whiskies
Oakeshott can get the first swing in1 -

Yes was aware of that Henners - I was thinking I would stump that up (who knows I may not lose it) so all monies raised would go to the good causes. I'm not not sure about charities and political activity - I've just read some stuff where it says a charity should avoid supporting or endorsing a candidate - but I haven't found anything that would preclude a candidate using the process (invisibly if need be) to raise money.Henry Irving said:@bobmunro you have to pay a deposit of £500 to stand which would eat into any funds raised
More research needed but it may be a runner if it's lawful. Could have some real fun as well.

Eddisbury in Cheshire is my constituency - I can put a load of tents up on my land and you can all register as residents! It's a safe Conservative seat so taking votes from them would be very rewarding but wouldn't affect the result.cabbles said:

Hardly surprising that she was defending The Daily Mail, considering she was their political editor until January 2017.Saga Lout said:
Well, the first thing she did was to talk over the Labour representative on the panel, who was too polite to shout her down. She then proceeded to spend the rest of the show defending the Daily Mail, of all things.Rob7Lee said:

40,000 votes up for grabs...... once you admit to being a Charlton fan you're guaranteed 5,000 sympathy votes, in fact if it's after next April you'll probably get 7,500 as we slip into league 2 and thats before @cabbles gets your profile trending on Tinder.bobmunro said:

I am still confused as to what we are seeing. Exact words as I understand is a minority conservative government with 'arrangements in place'. So not a full coalition.......cabbles said:In answer to your question chizz I imagine we'd start another one. I don't really get why Labour are so happy. They still lost to an awful Tory campaign and are no better off than they were in 2010. If that is a victory then what is a defeat?Huskaris said:Ian Hislop wanted to congratulate Jeremy Corbyn on running such a successful campaign and ended it by saying "he is now as successful as Gordon Brown was when he lost"

Basically Parliament is back on the 13th I think, they need to vote on the new government so as long as DUP step put their hands in the air I think the conservatives are in with their support on an case by case basis. Think Corbyn has a different idea......0 -
They will back key votes for certain concessions, also offer protection from a vote of no confidence in the house. The real problem is that they are going to appear such hypocrites after the campaign they have just run. Should be easy political capital for Labour if they can get their house in order.DamoNorthStand said:

I wondered the same. If anything we are in a worse position as a country and many labour supporters I know wanted a Corbyn hammering to get rid of momentum.LargeAddick said:

Well, I don't have the figures but the swing in percentage terms is greater than the swing Tony Blair achieved, so it is a great result and a massive slap in the face for May.LargeAddick said:

@SDAddick what can you bring
I've already thought of a possible taxation policy, really simple, based on your surname or CL Handle;
ABC - 0%
DEF - 10%
GHI- 15%
JKL- 20%
MNO- 25%
PQR- 30%
STU- 35%
VWX- 40%
YZ - 90% (Plus Others)
This is based on your initial birth certificate so no name changes, you can police the CL Handles @cabbles No birth certificate and you are in with the Youngs and the Zebidi's. I've discussed it with the insider I have in Labour, really good with numbers actually, she reckons this should raise an additional twenty five thousand hundred per letter for Bob to allocate.8 -

There is no doubt that Theresa May has made a complete and utter mess of this, but I do think she is aware of this and is in touch with reality.Rob7Lee said:

Chakrabarti and Corbyn are both adamant that Labour won the election and should form the next government.
Corbyn even goes further by saying he wants to do this without any deals.
I'm sorry, but the guy has lost all sense of reality.4 -
People criticising Labour celebrations is like fans mocking a team who were set for relegation and looked dead and burried but stayed up for not winning the league! Especially when £100m was spent to relegate them.

You'll win a landslide.

Stayed up with some panache and seriously embarrassed their much more well-resourced opponents - and also signed loads of their players for next season10
