Robinson praises Murray and suggests possible takeover update

Charlton manager Karl Robinson has paid tribute to Richard Murrary amid ongoing takeover talks.
Murrary, who has come under fire from Addicks fans for his involvement with the unpopular Belgian regime, has been acting as a chief executive since Katrien Meire left the club in the New Year.
And despite fan backlash towards the Valley director, Robinson is grateful to the former Charlton chairman.
Speaking after the Addicks’ 1-0 win over Bury, he said: “Let me talk about Richard Murray - what a man. He’s been unbelievable for me - I want to thank him publicly.
“He’s been there, he's guided me and supported me. He’s been on the phone to myself and [head of recruitment] Steven Gallen every night.
“He’s got different things going on in his life and he's still putting his life on hold for this football club.
“So whatever the difficulties or frustrations or whatever people think, here’s a man who wants this football club to do well. I can’t thank him enough for what he’s done for me over the last two weeks.
“I think we might do something [give a takeover update] early next week.

To me that reads as if Murray has an involvement in any new ownership... which I turn possibly hints at the successful party being Muir/McLeish!
KR doesn’t miss a chance to brown nose in order to get his own way15 -
Zzzz, it's literally minutes since he was telling us how unbelievable the last dopey CEO was zzzzz27

Fuck me.
Ok Karl. We get it.
Murray is heavily involved in the front running takeover party.12 -
involved in recruitment, but achieved what exactly?1

Do you ever get a sore throat Gobby?

We need an update quickly or things will quickly turn nasty.1

could suggest they are lining up targets in the event of a successful sale, I guess1

Evidently Murray is currently managing the club in the absence of a CEO - he's the man that Robinson has to liase with, day-to-day.
And if Murray has been supportive to him, that's what should be expected.
In any case, so what if Robinson is looking to keep his job.
You can't him blame him for that. Lot's of people would do the same.

Not sure we can read much into either way. The other day he said it could take 5 months. This at least sounds more positive than that.Callumcafc said:Oh dear. This doesn't sound promising.

He's tried being sour with the current set up. Now he's trying sweet. He's in a shit position. He's got to hedge his bets and do anything he can to try and bring in a couple players before the window shuts.
The five on the bench thing was far more frustrating and worthy of a response.1 -
If he really cared he wouldn't have backed the appointment of Karen fraeye.
The "last 2 weeks" don't make up for 4 years of being a knob.
The rare times when he wasn't silent he was talking bollocks and he insulted the intelligence of charlton fans.
It's a shame.
No potential guard of honour for him.12 -
Murray involved with this Scottish lot then0
-
I guess he’s fighting to keep his job, so needs to suck up to RM?0

Robinson is holding the club together - I am grateful to him for that. And the players for gaining 6 points from our last couple of games, despite all of the issues. Hopefully it is the platform to push on from when we get rid of that pathetic, senile, idiot owner.34

I'm surprised Murray cares what fans think. It's just message board stuff.16

Why? , when he clearly isn't very good.Shrew said:

Cut out the cliched BS, and he might get a different attitude.
Getting behind the team is a given.13 -
Ha ha, Robinson really is shameless in saying whatever helps keep him in a job. Can’t blame him I guess. Bit disappointing if Richard Murray is still involved. It’s all about his ego not what is best for the club.12

Obsequious or is it a dig at how uninvolved Meire was?1

I don't care what KR says, and Richard if you read this site, just know that nothing is forgiven and we won't forget your silence during Roland's tenure.
You're as bad as them and you can fuck off when they go.36 -

Random question. Do Charlton allow people with tickets into the ground after half time? My flight has been pushed back next Saturday and I wont be able to make kick off.
Especially, if the club has been sold before next Saturday would not want to miss it.0 -
@SouthWest_Addicks if they say no ask them to speak to Mick Everett, the safety officer.SouthWest_Addicks said:Random question. Do Charlton allow people with tickets into the ground after half time? My flight has been pushed back next Saturday and I wont be able to make kick off.

The quote on the OS about Carruthers speaks volumes and is clearly another not so veiled dig at RD
“I wanted Samir Carruthers to come back the other way – you can make your own mind up about who stopped that.
Also promising to reveal things about what’s been going on, gives me some encouragement that he knows it will happen next week1 -
I learnt a long time ago that what Robinson says is far less important than why he says it. This evening's Murray arse-licking speaks volumes, as does him dishing the dirt on Duchatlet refusing a part-ex deal on Holmes. The survival instinct has well and truly kicked-in.19
-
Why do you say that ? Just because Murray may give an update next week, why does it mean he's involved with the Scots or whoever ? He may well be, but have I missed something ?J BLOCK said:Murray involved with this Scottish lot then

Maybe the half season ticket you can buy now is for the 2nd half only?SouthWest_Addicks said:Random question. Do Charlton allow people with tickets into the ground after half time? My flight has been pushed back next Saturday and I wont be able to make kick off.
