  • Just had a text in from my wife's nephew, an Oxford fan, "What can Oxford expect from Karl Robinson then?".

    Suggestions?

    Queues at the chippy.
  • The problem for Robbo is if he resigned and claimed constructive dismissal based on lies and broken promises, he would probably win, as Curbs did with West Ham. But it does not go well for you in the football world if you do that!

Not sure normal rules apply with RD. He’s not someone who talks to other owners at matches or is going to be respected by them.

I think that would be the worry for any future employer as Curbs has found out

Just the usual verbose bollox. Get him to read the last 500 pages of CL.
    That'll give him some idea.

I can concur with @ValleyGary we are a piss poor joke of a club.
  • I’m not sure I agree with the majority of posts on here regarding this. We don’t know why Robinson offered not tendered his resignation. My guess is it’s because of the results and form. I don’t believe he’s off to Oxford and it’s some sort of scam to get compensation. Yes I believe a Robinson might well have had enough of the circus that is CAFC but I don’t buy into this whole ruse conspiracy.

Absolutely no way will he leed the team out Saturday against Plymouth.
He would get slated by the fans before a ball is kicked and if as expected Plymouth score first it would be hell for him.
I expect to see him go this week.

Yes I think he has - 100 miles up the road to Oxford. His voice carries that far!

Oxford have an “exciting” announcement to make later today apparently.

    Can’t be about KR then..

Zero sympathy for Robinson. Everyone warned him and he wouldn't listen.

He's been earning good money for 18 months, which is possibly the average length of time a football manager stays in a job. So I should imagine KR is rather content that he took the job & is hoping he can get out now before we slide further down the table.
  • Moving on ... I do hope this Aussie syndicate isn't going to stuff our side full with Aussie hopefuls, as was rumoured from right from the off. Mention of Harry Kewell already has me feeling slightly queasy.

It gives me some more respect for him. At least he realizes our results and performances aren't good enough.

For all those hoping he leaves I get that, but I don't think a first managerial job for Bowyer or Jacko, and cutting our coaching staff from three to two, will drastically help things. Same with Euell. And it's an awful time for their first job in management. If a takeover doesn't go through they could be stuck in a job with a potentially failing team for the rest of the season.

Robinson at least provides cover for them. That's not nothing.

    The club is a shambles

If RD truly cared about his interim role overseeing management whilst we are in the process of being sold, he’d be more on top of this

I suspect he’s simply a mouth piece if Roland asks him to do something

Whilst I feel for KR on the basis I think he put a shift in over the summer and wants it to work, I think he’s probably talked himself into a situation whereby he’s losing credibility. I look at his whole approach versus someone like Chris Hughton for example, and think that the mantra less is more would be ample here. He loves to talk, but I think he talks so much he says things that contradict on a regular basis. It’s not this, it was the car park as well

I was going to say how tense I was about the tense.

But, in all honesty, it wouldn't matter, the real crime here is suggesting that he had credibility...

    Having managed MK Dons...

    Really quite badly.

Plymouth priced around 12/5 to beat us on Saturday. Very tempted indeed to lump on that.

This. This is a big concern for me. Just as RD treating us like a feeder club for Leige/young Belgian talent was bad, so would be the approach of hiring Aussie first. Especially if it means giving people like Kewell and/or, say, Mark Schwartzer their second/first job in management solely because they're Australian. It didn't work with Fraeye, we can argue to what extent it worked with Riga and Peters, but if nothing else Australia is not a nation who has shown it can produce top coaches and players.

Well the Aussies made it to the word cup, unlike some countries we could mention.

If you're referencing the US, I would have as big, if not larger reservations about the idea of Stu Holden or Brad Friedal or Landon Donovan getting their starts on coaching here.
