Curbishley hasn't managed for an awful long time though, indeed apart from that brief spell at Fulham, he hasn't been near a club for years, let along take coaching
Maybe after the devastation of Katrien leaving and really dropping the club in it, Roland cannot bear to let another valued member of the team leave. Let’s be honest, if we lose another asset, we’re fucked, we might even end up with a terrible situation where we get promoted or something.
There is a very big difference between offering your resignation and actually resigning.
I have to admit I have used the tactic myself indeed did resign from a position within the company but not from the company itself. I had a dual contract.
It is a leverage point which largely says "on the basis of resources there is nothing more I can do for you and I would like the opportunity to explore other options"
In essence it is the point at which you say "it is not working, I am doing my best but if you want me to go, pay my contract up and I will go".
The actual terms of any formal exit will be defined by his contract. He can in effect put himself on gardening leave but will face possible financial consequences.
Quite what the players are supposed to think and where this leaves the clubhouse is anyone's guess.
The underlying current remains with this guy, despite all the fine words about his coaches and backroom staff, that the dialogue is ultimately always about him.
I am not sure our situation can become anymore bizarre.

Robinson wants his cake and eat it. Pay off from us, walks into new job.

Having made a joke about Robinson and dinner a few posts ago he's now moved onto pudding ...
I hate Duchatelet - Robinson is a bang average lower league manager but he has had promises broken by the owner. I can't hate him - I feel for him a bit. Even a good manager's patience would be tried working for that tool!

I agree, there's only two people on this planet I hate and that's PJ and Duncan

The problem for Robbo is if he resigned and claimed constructive dismissal based on lies and broken promises, he would probably win, as Curbs did with West Ham. But it does not go well for you in the football world if you do that!

It has to be Euell, Jackson, Bowyer and the players pulling together.

He wouldn't work for Duchatelet though. Curbs is his own man.
I really cannot hear the phrase: "Someone has to work for Duchatelet why shouldn't it be me?"
