The Takeover Thread - Duchatelet Finally Sells (Jan 2020)

If the selling price is £40m, he's taking a massive haircut as debts to Staprix are currently about £70m! Yes, for every Joe Gomez we sell RD gets a 10% fee, but only up to the £40m selling price. Unless we know what the upfront fee is, that could take ten years, or never. The issue is that if the Aussies ever want to sell, then that charge may have to be paid off and where it sits with the old directors loans.Missed It said:
Paying £40m cash for Charlton in its current state is a very bad deal. Roland is legally owed that money. He wants it back and won't take much of a haircut on it and this is what's the cause of all the hold up and aggravation I suspect. How to structure the deal so that Roland gets his money and the new owner's aren't crippled by the debt. Better to pay a sensible amount up front and defer the cost over time. As long as he has no financial interest in the stadium or training ground going forward, I can live with a 10% cut on academy player sales.eaststandmike said:
In my eyes any deal that leaves RD lurking in the back ground is a bad deal. He needs to be gone completely.sam3110 said:10% of youth player sales isn't a lot, let's be honest.
But I'd rather the full amount was paid off straight away.2 -
Peanuts in relation to £40m thoughForeverAddickted said:
Depends, if we sold another Joe Gomez for £3.5m thats £350k into the pocket of Roland...sam3110 said:10% of youth player sales isn't a lot, let's be honest.

I’m simply asking the question, which nobody has given any answer too, what benefit if any, would it be to a buyer, not to pay everything upfront?Redrobo said:
If you were buying the club for £50m, would you think a deal to pay £30m and the balance of £20m back at the rate of 10% of youth player sales a good one?sillav nitram said:

If someone doesn’t have 40 mil to buy us out lock stock and smoking barrels then there is serious implications on them being able to make us compete in this league let alone any other ambitious plans they may think they can achieve
Or is it sale or return?0 -
ill settle for Rd almost gone--stability---fans back on side and Burger Boy cleaning all the kahzis out watching his shit grasses float by.1

An incentive not to sell our best youngsters seems good to me.5

But these players don’t come along as often as you think. We do punch above our weight but he could have to wait along time for his money.ForeverAddickted said:

However, I think you are looking at it from the wrong perspective. I think of it more as the consortium will have more money in the pot to build the club. Far better than putting the other (say) £10mil into Rollys pocket up front.

I very much doubt that, RD is no fool, he will insert a clause somewhere saying we have to sell a quota each season otherwise he will never get his money back.Redrobo said:An incentive not to sell our best youngsters seems good to me.

In touch with a few people this morning, so I have put a piece together here www.votvonline.com
Muir for chairman, explicit legal attempt to keep Varney (and others) out - laughing at that tbh.21 -
Sounds like we are getting near the end... BUT in true Dutchelet style, if the stench of the man remains in any form, ground lease back etc, as quoted, I cannot see this ending nicely for us.
JUST GET THE FUCK OUT ROLAND!12 - Sponsored links:

Either that or he'll have a say so that we cant ask ridiculous fees for the kids in an effort to keep themeaststandmike said:

i.e. If we dont want Konsa to go we can demand £20m for him... In my scenario, Roland would be able to jump in and say we're demanding too much for him and that he thinks we should accept an offer of 20p for him0 -
The numbers make my head spin! Good point about what happens if new owners decide to move on before Roland is paid off. Maybe there are other payment options built in too, on promotion to Premier League etc. It's a nightmare and no wonder it's taken so long to sort out!!Pedro45 said:

what is a youth player?
is it one who has only played for the U23's or under 18's
or is it one that has progressed from the youth teams into the first team
there is a difference2 -
RD sells, then we return to the Championship.sillav nitram said:

Very true but then I would be better than the cunt we currently have but it doesn't mean I'm capable of the daily running of a football clubricky_otto said:

Genuine question, Is Elliot in anyway qualified to be involved in running a football club ?dajavouslagan said:So it seems Paul Elliot is onboard in some way. Can only be a good thing imo. Think he will end up running the football side. Wonder if Bowyer and Jacko will be kept on!

Did his speech the other week sound a bit like he's leaving?

Lee Bowyer has been a breath of fresh air and has bonded the club together, would love him to get the job full time and build his own team, however we have now lost 4 games under his leadership, he’s got much to learn I fear2

Cant see how it’s legal to prevent individuals who are British citizens with no criminal records or barred from being a director in companies house from holding a job at any company?8

I think they will come in and hopefully appoint someone like Mick mcarthey I feel bowyer has a lot to learn and for transfer targets where would he start we need experience I feel0

With rumours circulating that the new owners will form a board, Muir will become chairman, Murphy chief executive and Elliott vice chairman. Where exactly does that leave currant COO and fans favourite Tone Cahone? Its only fair to recognise his hard work in building a relationship with fans destroyed by others by offering him a permanent position going forward. Maybe one of the catering outlets in The Covered End has a vacancy for someone with his talents?11

True but this isn’t his team it’s Robinson’s ( who was severely restricted by RD) .AveryAddick said:Lee Bowyer has been a breath of fresh air and has bonded the club together, would love him to get the job full time and build his own team, however we have now lost 4 games under his leadership, he’s got much to learn I fear
The team is far too lightweight for this division and it showed at times last night , I’d like to see a team full of Bowyer type players then maybe we would not get outmuscled as often as we do . Reeves being the prime example of lightweight.8 -

A lot of clubs have won promotion out of this league with a young manager in their first or one of their first jobs. Us included.FAVADDICK said:I think they will come in and hopefully appoint someone like Mick mcarthey I feel bowyer has a lot to learn and for transfer targets where would he start we need experience I feel
I'd much rather we took a risk on Bowyer than brought in another Slade.15 -
