I get the impression Muir could be a good fit as an owner for us. Hopefully Roland doesn't own the ground but we'll see. As long as he isn't running it anything would be better.

so no evidence other than an historic presidence then ffs, thats not staying relevant its noisy mischief making!

If there are any firm suggestions or sources that this is the case then I retract the above and will remain committed to getting RD out of our club, if not and thats it you want to take a look at yourselves

He is passionate about the topic of nutrition, in particular educating children about healthy eating, and strongly believes that Australians need to take meaningful action to tackle the growing obesity problem. It was his desire to act on this problem, that saw him establish The Good Foundation.

Portion sizes to be reduced from 14 to 11 chips?

So he's basically an Aussie version of Jamie Oliver

I said about 300 pages ago that after reading all I could about Muir, that he was my best hope as new owner, among the reported candidates. So I am quite happy it is indeed him. I don't think we could have done better given our size, honestly.

From what I have read about him, which is everything I could find in English, he is honest and personable. The Good Guys was a very successful home electronics chain here in the US, where most of its revenues came from. It was a family business started by his father. I like the fact he has operated a family business before.

His operational style appears to be by consensus. He likes to surround himself with people he trusts and likes group decisions. So I believe he will NOT be a dictatorial styled-owner.

He is quite smart financially. He does not like to brag. He is not a bullshitter. He thinks long term. He dislikes debt.

My biggest worries are that he has no history of running a football club. And the fact he won't own all of the assets straight off.

But for me, given the reports and pics, I am feeling as hopeful as I could have wished for given the circumstances. This is potentially a great day.

What fact? The ground/training ground talk is definitely not fact.

*grumpy response above from me after a long flight and still smarting over last nights result.

If there is a shred of truth in Roland retaining any part of our club I will be pretty pissed off, lets hope your hunch is wrong @BELGIUM20 or we will all be Belgium bound again!

Wow. It really does seem to be happening. This is so much more important than whether we get promoted.

But nice to have both !

Would hate Roland to have any sharehold in Cafc whatsoever. As others say id rather they not buy us If they cant afford the whole thing.

It's like when you get married, and everything seems Rosy you have a kid called Charlton. then you realise oh shit this ain't going well, in fact I hate my wife so much wish shed just die. Then you go in for a divorce....

Then you have joint access to Charlton after going to court...

The bitch (Roland) will now forever be apart of your life. Having a say in poor little Charltons life too.

Collectively I am sure the Aussie mob have more capital than Poison Poirot, If the deal is he retains part of anything until we are better off then no probs with me. I just want him and his toxic shit out as much as poss.

If there's a scintilla of truth in the rumour that 'the new guys' will be leasing the premises from the toxic old then this deal can wither and die so far as I'm concerned. Deferred payment based on whatever cock-eyed scheme, that's all fine. But for tooshitsalot to have his cancerous digits left in any part of Charlton's pie will be ruinous. All or nothing. Anybody getting into business with roly is at best a moron, to have that rancid dementor lingering around the place defies sense and will deny any respect whatsoever. I hope it ain't true. I'd sooner have Uncle Ron Noades as landlord, for eternity, than have anymore time in the toxic pantomime.

    100%

    Pass on the Noades bit.

So long as that odious shit retains even the slightest interest in anything connected to our club, I will not set foot in The Valley.

    Are you reading this Southend?

This isn't NOT as bad as it sounds in my opinion, for two reasons.

First, it is essentially just collateral against the remainder of the purchase price being paid, which will be paid if/when we are creating higher turnover or promoted, most likely. This is not at all unreasonable, for it means that RD would have sold it all if the full price was paid up front.

Second, it shows Muir is not financially stupid. And despite having hundreds of millions in cash available, was unwilling to overpay up front. It shows he has financial smarts, which his CV proved already.

I always though RD might keep the ground if he did not get full price and said so many times, here. But this feels more like he wants to hold it until he is paid in full, which is VERY different and does not worry me nearly as much. For now.

Not ideal. But not a disaster. I seriously doubt it will interfere in Muir's plans.
Until such time as we get promoted but then the c*** has moved us to wherever.

Wouldn't that be dangerous? Besides where could we get some?

If RD’s going to lease us the training facilities, hadn’t he better build them first?

Maybe he'll lease to the Aussies at £ x but when they develop the facilities he thinks he can then up the price to £ xxxx as they've built on his land ?

The Aussies must be mad if they are agreeing to pay 40M for Charlton , Roland has wrecked the club. We are in a lower division , crowds are down 50% , the Aussies should offer 20M take it or leave it with no strings. If Roland was to getting 10% of player sales that would be the end of Valley Gold for most fans

The worrying thing about the valley freehold being owned by someone other than the club brings back memories of us having to move to sellout park
