Worry is that Brentford will look elsewhere, find nothing, then come back with a panic offer we can't refuse right at the last minute.

I would like to think that is simple guess work on his behalf as they have missed out on more remote targets, returning to a local one at this late stage would make sense.  Yet, nothing is done the proper way anymore.
He's also tweeted that they had a first bid rejected earlier in the week

When we know through Cawley that four bids have in fact been rejected

That would have to mean Lyle going. No way we can be in for players of that quality otherwise.

Big Big hour and a bit coming up - unfortunately my Lyleometer has just swung into the 'he's off' zone
  • Thats fine, if our bids for Toney are being turned down then bids Taylor get turned down too!

Sounding more and more like Toney is meant to be the Lyle replacement. Can’t see where else we’d get the money.

Nice to not let a player go before we bring in the replacement though.

    Taylor is

a real Charlton legend which he proved by staying loyal to the club who will be class at this level/a dirty snake who left us for the money and wasn't that good anyway, league 1 is his limit*

Kayal/Hemed would probably be the best 2 players we have had since we left the premier league (minus perhaps Gomez & Lookman) can't see any way thats a goer but i'd love to be wrong

Toney's verified on Twitter, Lyle isn't. Based on that, he must be a better footballer. Sell Lyle, buy Toney. Easy peasy, win the league by January.
  • Sorry but £4m for Toney isnt a joke

They effectively want the same amount for a Striker who scored 16-goals in a team that didnt get promoted as what we want for Taylor!!

I know it’s The Sun but the thought of Charlton bidding £4 million for Ivan Toney is beyond absurd

7.01 - See this being a deal that we'll need to wait until 7pm for (Data Sheets etc.) before we're safe or not

There is a point where reality strikes though. Charlie Austin has just moved for 4M. League 1 last season is proof Taylor is worth more than Toney. Although I rate Toney if this doesn't unsettle him at a Peterborough enough to make him push them to accept a reasonable offer then really this ends one way. Taylor at Brentford & no one of note at Charlton

Serious Statement of intent by my partners @JasonDavidNeale & @rstposh turning £4 million down for a @theposhofficial player on deadline day. Hope our fans happy with that & showing we are serious like never before for a great season. Barry has gone for a lie down in shock
