Bizarrely the previous owner didn't get on with Rob Segal, so he made a personal call to Lee Bowyer in which a one year compromise deal was done. I would like to see some dynamism from the chairman to get the main deal done (Bowyer's contract) but accepting Segal was in the USA with other clients, this needs to be announced by the latest Thursday which will be a week since the press conference.

We know Bowyer said something was weird following his talks with Southall before the takeover happened. Yes, it surely is weird not to tie the manager up in the circumstances we were/are in. I make Bowyer right there. I'm sure things can get better, but it feels to me that Southall needs to up his game a bit. We had that offical interview that was a bit of a damp squib then a day or so later a much more positive affair - what was going on? I'm sure he is working hard, and I'm confident ESI are going to be good for us, but it feels like there have been a few errors early doors and now is the time to start putting them right.
I will be very interested what our midfield will look like on Saturday. Our attack too to be honest. I would hope at this point we might be able to at least put out a team that is capable of beating an out of sorts Preston. As a previous poster rightly said, 5 or 6 wins in 19 games looks quite doable, 5 or 6 in 12 becomes very hard. These games now are vital and failure to appreciate that is bonkers.6 -

Now they are in charge and while the "model" may still be sound long term their short term plan is banging into the reality of professional football and the January transfer window (Gallagher is a prime example of that).
Neither the opening gambits with Bowyer or Taylor have worked, as yet.
Taylor didn't sign immediately while Bowyer didn't play ball with the do the manager's contract in February plan.
Moltke also said ""Strategy is a system of expedients" or in more simple terms, if the situation changes then change the plan.
But it is still only two weeks into the "model".
I don't doubt that there is a lot going on behind the scenes, calls being made and deals offered. The time to judge this window is not now, frustrating as today has been, but on 1 February.

It is common sense though that any new player will be interested in Bowyer's position. You could sign a deal and get Warnock for most of your contract length for all you know!
I would agree that the time to judge the window is 1 Feb were it not for the fact that the pesky EFL are demanding we play games in January. The points from those games could be crucial and change the circumstances somewhat.3 -
