Bang 5 years. They must be well convinced.
Who stalls over a 5 year deal?
Someone who's not convinced it's as good as it sounds.12 -
It’s not just a new contract for Bowyer either, Jackson, Marshall and probably a few others also need deals they’re happy with.2

I'm concerned what your work/mortgage/insurance contracts look like.
For all we know Bowyer has been offered a reduced salary over 5 years. Or told he gets no compensation if sacked early. Or that him and Gallen don’t have a say on new signings. We have no idea why he is stalling.5 -
Why were we told it was 5 years? We need to ask ourselves that. We weren't told the other bits of it. Sort the contract out and and then tell us it is for 5 years or 4 years or whatever is agreed. But going back to my question, why tell us. Maybe if it doesn't get signed, the blame game can commence. We did everything we could, even offer a generous 5 year contract.0

Southall should not have mentioned the length of the contract in public. He needs to learn how to walk before running.2

But it was a silly question, and shouldn't have been answered. You can have a rubbish 5 year contract and a decent 2 year one. It was enough to say something like, we are putting what we think is a very good package together for him that reflects what he has done for the club and what we believe he will do in the future.1

Sun journo saying Bowyer can do better than us
I checked to see if there was odds available for Bowyer to be the next manager to leave, have a sneaky feeling a deal won't be struck. To me it seems like the owners are concerned by the teams form so won't back him and Bowyer won't sign cause he hasn't had backing yet and I don't blame him.1 -

I would be amazed if he didn’t sign.8 -
If we don't get any in before Fulham and we lose I wouldn't be surprised if he walked.3

It was the second time Matt was asked that question and this is when the 5 year was mentioned.0 -

Lower down, plenty. Parkinson and Campbell spring to mind but
Very unlikely in Lee's case.
If Bowyer didn't "walk" on that infamous day and night when Segal and RD talks broke down until Roland rang Lee personally then no way would he Quit now. If they are very very close on the rest of the coaching staff and the sticking points of the contract then Wednesday before the game at the latest.0 - Sponsored links:

New CEO woos the fans with charm and appearing active.
Best player on the verge of leaving, club can't convince him to stay
Fans favourite Manager after a successful spell now in freefall cause of lack of investment, not being backed
Lack of clarity over what is actually going on, just blind faith from fans.
All we can go by so far is their word, I bought into Southall's words at that conference, since then all we have done is lose a key player. Just unfilling my glass now in case it all goes tits up which I am starting to think it will as the days go by

Yes, you are calling as you see it at the moment with the hope you are wrong. Same as most of us.1

LB said just two days ago that he was very very close to signing a new deal, just a couple of things need tweaking, both parties are keen to get it done. Where’s this new panic come from?20

I think there is a fear that they won't agree a contract and either MS says sign this or go or LB will say give me x or I'll go.
If anyone has used "walk" and didn't mean that I am happy to stand corrected.0 -

If Bowyer signs I will feel a lot easier as he is closer to things than me and it would be a sign that he is content about things I am worried are significant issues. I have been consistent in that and I reckon a lot of players may feel similar, those with us and those considering joining us. For this reason, I will breath a sigh of relief when he signs tomorrow after those tiny little things that need sorting are sorted.
What I think we will hear is Bowyer saying, if he says anything at all, is that he needs to focus on Fulham. Which in some ways will be fair enough, but it won't resolve any of my concerns. When Bowyer signs, he is happy with ESI. That is the marker for me. If he does walk, he will not be saying negative things about his contract negotiations before it. That is obvious and why we need to see actions rather than words.1 -
Maybe, just maybe if we hadn’t raised our hopes so high at the start we wouldn’t have our world come crashing down around our ears when we found ourselves hovering around the relegation area. If we’d had won one, drawn one, lost two at the start we wouldn’t have been talking about promotion but would have had more more realistic dreams. Maybe, just maybe.1
