Is it possible Mr Parkes has Charlton's best interests at heart, and has put this above his own? If so, he has acted honourably and possibly to the detriment of his career.
Admittedly I am speaking without any specific knowledge, but to me Mr Southall's time as Chairman of CAFC would appear to be coming to the end.
It is possible that he has lost the respect of those that work at Charlton, and, almost as important, the respect of many Charlton supporters.3 -

Why now has Chris Parkes only been suspended for doing something wrong, the bloke has been around for so long he'll have endless contacts and knowledge of processes etc.

Pretty Sure Lee Bowyer won't be too pleased about this either, he hold Chris Parkes in very high regard and i can't imagine this has gone down well. The Mouthall ship is well and truly sinking.6

I met Chris Parkes last year on the Upbeats walk and he was kind enough to spare me time for a proper chat on the walk.
He leaves you in no doubt whatsoever Charlton runs through his veins. He was extremely proud of only ever missing a handful of matches throughout his entire career and was able to name every single occasion the opposition and year.
There's no way Chris would ever act without the club's best interests at heart.
Southall is a disgrace. All the early goodwill he made with us has gone completely and irreparable.18 -
