Watched the second season just now. I can safely say that despite massively looking forward to it, despite the anticipation of how season 2 was going to end and all that - I don't exactly feel good about it.
I've already lived through the high. I would not trade that day at Wembley and the experience I had for anything. But seeing it through the lens of Sunderland fans, knowing what would happen, and with the respect I have for Mackems as a fan base, was really quite difficult.
I'm glad it wasn't a happy ending for the series, of course, but I don't think I could watch it again and feel any better about the 2018-19 season.
Blimey, Maja’s agent. I won’t use the words on CL that I’d like to. Maja does come across with a large ego, but who knows what the agent was whispering in that young lads ear.
I had to pause it to post this and saw @hoof_it_up_to_benty’s posts. Totally agree. Methven comes across as a supremely arrogant arsehole. Utterly convinced of his own importance. Seems to think he’s some sort of visionary, when he’s just some posh twat spouting vague, cliché ridden soundbites interspersed with dollops of bollocks. He reminds me of any character you’ve ever seen in a movie or tv series who is an over-promoted high powered banker/lawyer type, underestimates the working man protagonist and gets his comeuppance by the end.
Maybe that’s unfair, I’ve only watched 5 minutes, so maybe he turns out alright. I really doubt it though!

Nope you’re spot on mate. He actually gets worse with each episode.

Son and I watched it from start to finish through the day (with a dog walk half way). We enjoyed it, felt for Sunderland fans, but enjoyed it.
My two favourite Methvenisms were
'Season Cards' & 'Of all the teams I have supported these are the worst' (or similar)
Quite liked the chairman, seemed a decent enough bloke.
All the special community/its your club/we are only here as long as you want us bollocks was uncomfortable to watch though. Whenever I hear that sort of thing now my hackles go up.
Methven what a dick. That guy would definitely ditch Red Red Robin if at our club. The look on his face when Sunderland got the 2nd goal against us was as though his decision to change the music was the reason they won the game.
He did have the right theory about making the most of home advantage but what an absolute David Brent.

his other half had really bad trout pout lips, very hard to look ar on a big screen tv
Some of the editing was iffy but the episode where they had the owner or CEO talking about team players and staying on board for the ride or packing out as Maja was disappearing down the tunnel and then cut to the comms woman leaving, although it went unstated. I’d like to have heard from her about her boss after she left. Being told to f***ing get him the attendance figure in the next 5 minutes was probably the final straw
Yeah liked him as a player before seeing him on this but comes across as a really decent lad too
Bet a few Sunderland fans will enjoy the truth about Will Grigg; Owner goes on the radio, doesnt overly defend his Manager over the signing, yet its clear from their chat on deadline day that Ross didnt want them paying over the odds
Feels a bit like Jack Ross got a harsh share of the blame for last season, of course didnt get sacked after the Play-Off Final but still
Comes across really well. Suspect a lot could learn from the bit where he says I might only be on for 5 minutes but I need to do everything to be ready for those.5 minutes.
Just finished episode 6, I really do feel bad for their fans. They've been through so much shit just like we have. I really hope they get their day in the limelight very soon. They deserve it
Since series 2 was announced I’d always planned to just watch the last episode, up until this afternoon when I decided to watch from the beginning instead. I really felt for the fans at the end, not that I’d change a single second about that day. But “why is it never us celebrating” got me.
the only time I agreed with Brent was when he and the owner were doing the podcast and the interviewer wouldn’t let the point about Grigg not fitting the system go. Methven jumped in and said there are plenty of other questions to ask etc.
and despite watching THAT goal 500+ times, even tonight, my heart was still racing as Cullen dug out that cross.
For those having a crack at young Maja ask yourself what you would do in his position....commit your future to the hands of a pair of dodgy chancers or cash out and get a great move elsewhere that sets you up for life?
Sunderland didn’t have to sell him, they could have kept him and used him to get an auto spot and then let him go.....but they chose to take the cash.

Loved watching the slow mo of the Bauer goal. The kit man who wanted to play Charlton at Wembley made me laugh.

Ha'way the lads.
As soon as the scene with the flip chart started I thought of this:

Bet had they won then that prick would still be there
Wanted to punch him for speaking in that tone to the woman pitchside over some attendance figurees!!
