I think this is a great move for both parties.  Charlton and Bonne.

I also think it's a terrible move for QPR.

If you're gonna blame anyone blame QPR scouts for not doing their homework.

Bonne was never going to be starting striker in the Championship material. He'd be a squad player + a project at that.

£2m seems a fair price in this day and age for a punt at a striker, but sticking him straight into the starting XI every game is where QPR are making a mistake.
  • The thing is with Bonne is he flattered to deceive so many times,
he would be forever getting himself into seemingly good positions
but fail to finish what looked like an easy to finish scenario, but
just come up with enough to keep everyone ticking over.
So for QPR to buy him as the finished article is either very stupid
or someone didn't do enough research.
Lee had him about right as a work in progress, and unfortunately
for Bonne, his head was turned "mid apprenticeship" so to speak.

Lots of people enjoying Bonne only scoring 1 in 4 and getting some shitty reviews from fans on a forum in here. It's weird. If you based how well a player is doing on what some bloke writes on a forum when he's annoyed his team lost I don't think you'd get an accurate picture. There's people on here who give our players 0.5 out of 10 if they get sent off or miss a header. Were people watching the QPR game last night instead of ours or something? I genuinely don't know if he's doing well on the pitch or not because I don't watch him, he's opened his account and the season is 8 games old, I don't know that anyone should be writing him off just yet. Sounds like QPR are trying to get something out of him that he can't deliver as really he only works in a front two where the other striker does a lot of the hard running at the moment so they may get what they deserve on that front

He has already played for two clubs this season.

Would anyone take Bonne over Bogle at this moment in time?
    Probably TBH.

Too old, for me. Also a centre-back.

Blimey, are you saying Bogle is better than Bonne? I don't see that our team is strong with EITHER of them in it at the moment. I hope Bogle proves me wrong but I was watching the game last night and saw Bogle as yet another in a long line of Charlton strikers that simply don't look like reliable goal scorers. Loads of running about - yes, even some smart body turns - but, ultimately negligible contribution up front.

In fairness to Bogle we’ve not created many chances for him.

What he’s added over Bonne is better hold up play. Not saying he’s great at it, but he’s offered a clear improvement over playing Bonne or even Washington as a lone striker. It makes a difference as the ball doesn’t go straight back the opposition.

He held the ball up very well at Northampton. Jury is still out but as you said, the ball sticks more which helps the defence

Agree. Reminded me of Akpo Sodje

I think he seemed a bit more agile than Akpo.

Bogle remains a quandry for me, he is the player that needs to learn composure.

I think Bogle makes things difficult enough for defenders that the ball doesn't just keep coming back all the time. He doesn't win every header but wins enough and uses his strength well at times. Don't expect he'll get many goals but as long as his play allows others to contribute then I don't really care. Obviously isn't close to Aneke's level but given the way we want to play and he was a freebie I'm happy to have him.

Washington's run and finish last night was something that Bonne could never do. Did he ever score a 1on1 for us?

Yep, away at Bristol City ........ broke down the left wing on his own, cut inside the flank of the box and fired it across the keeper and inside the far post.

Very well taken solo goal from a difficult angle as the keeper advanced.

Also at home against Bristol City when he ran the channel and put in a lovely ball for Doughty to score.

But yeah, because football, he is crap and apparently can barely even stand up straight.

Didn't say that. Bonne has scored goals at a higher level than Bogle has. That's about it.

I do think if the clean sheets dry up we could be in a degree of trouble. The flashes I've seen from Bogle don't suggest he has the instincts of a goal machine.

But he's rusty and hasn't been here long so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Think you're misremembering that goal, might want to watch that again. Starts at 4:23.

Bonne was decent off the ball and great in the air. The ball at his feet however... I don’t think he ever looked confident.

It did a lot for us, so I hope he finds form but it will be tough if he’s a lone striker

If QPR offered him back to us on loan for further development (I know I know, but humour me) would you take him and would he be number one striker?

Yes, his hold up play is decent, but then so was that of Josh Magennis

It's been a tricky period for new signings though, especially free agents, as instead of being eased in gently, it's 2 games a week with little time left on the training ground. Having played the best part of 2 90s in 4 days, his match fitness ought to be improving though.

I remember the game where he told Gallagher that if he went for a ball in the air, be prepared to run on if he won the header, which he did and Gallagher ran on and scored, brilliant, cannot remember which game,,,,,,,but I am sure there are many that will
