If we did not stop giving goals away
and get our two Centre Half’s  back we would stop
    dropping points.
We hit the woodwork 4 times,
we had a stone wall Penalty not given and we were the better team.
but until we have our defence back with RI and AF
    this stupidity will keep happening.
most teams would have scored 10 goals today with our chances Curbs was right we should have won this game, Amos should had stopped one of the Goals .
results were kind to us today also and still 6th
we need a 5 game winning run 👍👍

So that explains Smyth, Bogle, Schwartz, Stockley, Washington, Aneke?

We needed a CB far far more than Stockley.
Right but we're paying for the wages of 6 of them.

So Bowyer is talking nonsense right there.

Defence poor but our finishing was woeful. Chuks hits bar from six yards  and is not unlucky - poor miss. Shinnie 10 minutes later from six yards powder puffs it to the keeper and Washington's pub League miss. With two centre backs back, we won't lose but it'll be 0-0. People can and often blame Bowyer but he cannot do anything about players who miss absolute sitters.

Our squad, even without Inniss and Famewo, is so much better than what we've been churning out for the last couple of months. Absolutely no way we should be sat mid table
  • This is all well and good having 4 centre backs but when Pearce is looking past it more and more each week and Inniss is made of glass with a long history of injuries, you do have to question why we haven't gone in for another one.

If the wage cap is the issue then send Smyth back (i don't know what % of his wage we're paying though).

I love having Curbs on the match coverage (nightmare for any incumbent manager - as your original comment shows!) but I really don’t think bringing him back if Bowyer leaves is the right move.
  • We’re not getting promotion this season conceding two goals a game too many times, the defense is not good enough.

There's a good chance Fam and Innis have glass in their make up, so no guarantees how long they'll last when they do get back.
I'd move heaven and earth to get another CB in.

He’s getting wrong for a new reason.... that’s convenient.

He’s not above criticism, but the defence and injuries have always been the issue
He has had 3 weeks to sort the defence. He has bought in 3 forwards.  The defenders aren't bad players.  Please name them if they are.

How long can you you use injuries to defend a manger when all the injuries happen in training?

How long can you blame injuries to the "center backs" who have never played a full season between them?

Do you honestly think Swindon/Rochdale/Shewsbury/Plymouth MK Dons (Delete as appropriate) defenders are better than available ones?

  • The thing is, if this result was observed in isolation and the performance, I'd say we are so unlucky, but to have the luck against you for three months, hmmmm.

Still need a CB so badly.
Once that’s sorted and silly mistakes gone we will be unbeatable, it’s coming together now, have faith

Stop bringing in forwards and concentrate on the problem, which is the Swiss-cheese defence.

I broadly agree with you, but Pearce is a bad defender these days tbf

Sorry fella, just frustrated with the armchair managers you love to give it out but can’t take criticism.

Thought we were poor first half with no real bite and then turned it on in the 2nd.

Curbs saying Stockley might be surplus to requirements forgets how injury prone Aneke is with 22 games still to go.
Bowyer saying we have 4 centre backs already so don't need another, problem is our best two may only play a handful more games together this season.

Struggling to blame Bowyer for today, we created more than enough chances and limited their chances (they might have limited themselves by being rubbish but whatever), but some woeful individual finishing and defending just summed up our afternoon. Purrington will presumably come back in for a run now with Maatsen out, round pegs in round holes and all that

We would be a cracking side with a back four of Gunter, Inniss, Famewo, Maatsen.

    Centre half a huge priority.

    2 points dropped - gutted.
First goal conceded wasn't down to the centre halves
Neither was the second, neither was the second on Tuesday, neither were the 4 against Rochdale.

Don't think we were bad today overall, we hit the woodwork 3 times
and created numerous chances, and ended with a 2-2?
Both their goals were very fortunate, Amos will feel he should have done better
with the first, and a deflection with the second.
Looking to the Tuesday game v Mk, we need to start with the team that left
the pitch, with the exception of Pierce, if Mattson not fit bring in Purrington.
Surely luck will turn, lets hope it is soon

We've had 20 days to sign a CB.

We've signed 2 strikers and a winger instead.

Even if Bogle leaves that makes zero sense.

Fairly sure he wouldn’t be interested anyway. It’s clear he is close with Bowyer.

I thought we needed a 20-goal Striker though, thats been the primary argument on here since the summer

on another day we'd have won that 4-1, one defensive lapse and a bit of bad luck/lack of composure in front of goal cost us 3 points.

Those saying the results are not good enough are 100% right.

But we’ve definitely improved game by game over the last three games and the shape of the side is starting to look much more settled and familiar.

People see ‘bad luck’ as a nothing excuse, but there were so many chances that should / could have been goals, yet we continue to get punished so easily. Matthews and Amos will be hugely disappointed with the mistakes they made for the first.

Stockley looks like a good edition, Millar is a breath of fresh air, JFC and Deji continued their good form.

Hugely frustrating. I know some will see this as rose tinted but I still feel if we win one game, get our strongest team fit and playing consistently, well have the potential to go on a run of getting 24/25 points out of 30.

Time is undoubtedly running out though
Yup, as I see it too

I reckon he probably like his current gig, gets paid a bit of money to watch the club he clearly has a lot of affection for, no pressure, and gets to do a bit of memory lane stuff with Minto and Brown.
