So frustrating how we can't see at least glimpses of that every week.
Some of them (Pearce especially) looked like different players.
Battling, pressing, not pissing about slowly at the back, lots of offensive stuff.
Purrington and Millar were fantastic on the left I thought.
Just really hope we can start to get settled and build on this, rather than another 3/4 changes for Gillingham, diamond formation and 1-0 down after quarter of an hour.

The thing about this win was how convincing it was. That should build morale and take that onwards

That was a decent performance, but must not get carried away. Rochdale are mot the best in the division.
The most positive thing was the defending against Rochdale, the aspect of the game they are good at.

First half was excellent, played like a team that was organised and controlled the game

Second half was extremely professional... Rochdale certainly improved, we dealt with them really well

Pearce and Purrington were outstanding at the back today, midfield apart from Millar could have done better when they had the ball at times (e.g. a few too many wasted balls at times) - Aneke and Stockley up top were outstanding. My only little nit pick is Stockley is so good with chesting the ball down but his fellow team mates just seem too far away at times for us to benefit from it, almost becomes an action that he's doing for the sake of it.

Would argue though thats his team mates job to get closer and be more aware rather than he stop doing it

Bowyer too... Been saying since Tuesday that he needs to go back to making three subs and he effectively did that today, yeah I'm aware he made four but that last one was purely to run the clock down rather than try and effect the game - Just keep it simple in that regard too

Probably helped though that were werent having to chase the game for once - Rochdale arent great but brushing a team of their level aside has been the biggest issue this season... Its another area we can try and build from

Could of been 5-0 today. Played very well first half and saw it off quite comfortably in the second.
Solid in defence today which is pleasing.

Special mentions go to Purrington who was solid today tackling and blocking, Stockley and Aneke who were very good up top.

Looking at the fixtures coming up they are quite favourable towards us for a while and we have the luxury of not playing Saturday, Tuesday for next couple of weeks.
A lot of our rivals have a lot of games to catch up on and they are all playing each other so the games in hand on us might not be as bad as we thought.

Hopefully this is the start of a good run.

Bowyer has lost the plot. Doesn't have a clue. Has lost the dressing room. No Plan B. Too much tinkering.

    Blah blah blah.

Great performance. Clean sheet. Never looked in any danger. Three points.  Nothing more to say.
It was only one person's decision to play the diamond against Portsmouth mate.

Look how well we have competed and played when we played a flat 4-4-2. As much as Bowyer should take credit for this fantastic performance, our best all season in my opinion, he is fully responsible for the shit show on Tuesday.

Stick with this formation, those two up front, and let other people make a claim to get in the starting XI.

So much easier for the players to play in that formation. Pratley thrived on being allowed to press rather than hovver about in a deep position. Millar was fine too as a left-midfielder. He's got such a good engine and levels of fitness, it's no problem for him. Two good forwards who closed their back-four down and stopped them playing at source.

Just keep it simple like that and the players will do the rest.

Never mind all this praising the team for a good performance.
We should all be focusing on how Millwall came back to win from 1-0 down.
    Honestly, priorities people.

Great win and as for Deji's interview on steroids.. Exsqueeze me... Baking powder?
  • A platform to build on, hopefully we get a bit of confidence back. Very happy for Deji.

Credit where it's due to Bowyer, we did indeed just go to basics, had the two target men and we were solid. Rochdale showed they are a poor team but you can't just turn up and win.

One decent win is nowhere near enough yet so not getting carried away, but good start, definitely need to go unbeaten for the rest of the month.
  • Good all round team performance - 442 suits our players - could easily have been 4 or 5 nil - back 4 all played well too - good to see both Pearce and Purrington have good games and Oshilaja getting better with every game - no more fullbacks or midfielders at centre back please.

Ben Purrington at LB and we look like a capable football team. No losing the ball from the back, and great overlapping runs.

I know it’s not all on that change, but our shape down the left side looked a lot better

Maatsen will have his chance again, but he’ll need to cut sloppiness out his game.

Much better, I was disappointed we couldn’t go on and get one or two more in the second half for confidence. Other than that you can’t fault the team and the way we set up.  Counts for nothing unless we don’t go on to beat Gillingham and start to put a run together. Let’s see where we are this time next Saturday.  We need to start turning that sort of performance in, week in, week out

Nice to have that Saturday evening post match feeling.

2 goals. Clean sheet. 3 points and a ruby on order at the local curry house.

Hopefully this is something we can build on.  We are definitely stronger after that window.  Stockley and Aneke up front is a pretty good quality battering ram for this division.

Now to find some consistency with a more settled team....

442 wins again. Let's stick with a winning formula Bow.

He should just play the exact same lineup until it fails. Don't over-think it.
