Somehow not Pratley, I would imagine.aliwibble said:Scott Minto asking how we turn this around. Bowyer saying you have to look at who's constantly at fault during games, and suggests he's already decided who that is, but doesn't say who.1 -
Throw in Gilbey - POTY at MK Dons whilst his team mates now at Lincoln are flourishing.CL_Phantom said:All the players are shit and league 2 even the ones the ones that were called championship level like Matthew's, Watson and Chris "he's never played below the championship Welsh international" Gunter.
Or something
Maddison - probably in the best 5 players in league one over the last 4 seasons or so.
Washington 1 got a goal scoring record to easily get 15 a season at this level.
Oshilaja - has managed to perform at champ level before but now looks shit in league one.
Shinnie - key player in a promotion winning team just two years ago.
All non league standard.
Bowyer is being hamstrung poor guy having to deal with such a tough hand. Gonna have a Live Aid concert in Greenwich Park after lockdown to see if we can maybe club together and get him something more befitting this league we are in8 -

He used Conor as an example to make a wider point about the fact that everyone in the squad is doing the same - no-one is coming into the side and grabbing the shirt.Hang on, you’re right with what you say here, but he did also say Washington should be shouting and screaming at me to put him in. I didn’t imagine that.0

In the context of the sentence, that was almost certainly a metaphor.lordromford said:

That wasn't what he said. He was saying that Washington's performance wasn't forcing him to put him back in the side.lordromford said:Fucking hell.
Listening to Bowyer is embarrassing.
Now digging out Washington for not complaining about being out the side.

100% agree, said the same myself a few times recently. They took the wrong approach in the summer. Not enough players hungry to improve, win trophies or prove people wrong.Laddick01 said:Think we have too many players on the decline career wise.
Gunter, Watson, Pratley, Amos hardly screams energy does it.
I know you need some experience in the squad but we’ve really taken that too far.6 -

Well maybe. But you said he didn’t say that. So it is what he said then?aliwibble said:

And even if it was metaphorical, he’s still digging out an individual.0 -
Pretty much everyone on here was happy when we signed Gilbey and Shinnie, both had good experience at this level. Watson was also generally well received.Charltonparklane said:Morgan, Lapslie, Williams, Maddison
Shinnie, Pratley, Watson, Smyth.
I'd chuck in Gilbey, Gunter, Schwartz
Yeah great recruitment.
Ain't got a clue.
Schwartz was top scorer in the Danish league last season, he can't be that rubbish.
And I didn't hear a bad word said when we signed Gunter either, a bloke with 99 international caps and had spent his entire career in the top 2 divisions.
They weren't bad players last season, so how have they all become bad players this season? Something must be seriously wrong with how they're being coached.36 -
Sincere condolences @Exiled_Addick on the loss of your dog - I know the heartache of losing a much loved pet 😪Exiled_Addick said:Why do I persist with this toxic relationship? It’s been an absolute c**t of a week topped by the sudden death of our dog during the week. All I needed today was 3 points and a half decent performance to provide a bit of a pick me up. But this is Charlton so you can always rely on them to let you down.Pathetic from all of them. Shit tactics. Shit team selection. Shit performance. Shit refereeing. Shit shit shit.
I said Bowyer deserves until the end of the season whatever happens, but I’m not sure how he can turn this around now. I think he’s out of ideas. Perhaps a change of manager is what is needed. We can’t change the players now.Being Charlton the normal rules of football never apply so we never seem to get a new manager bounce anyway.I’d like to think it can’t get worse than this but, again, this is Charlton so there is probably no limit to the depths we can reach. It’s so ‘us’ to have had 3 seasons where the only ray of light in a world of shit off the pitch has been the first team’s results and performances. Now everything is being run correctly off the pitch, we’ve fallen apart on the pitch.6 -
I would ask Curbs, Day and Peacock to come back (providing they are all still alive) and replace Bowyer, Jackson and the other bloke.2
-
Not one shot on target ~ enough said.1

1st pen: correct decision.2nd pen: assumed the ref was booking the fella for diving.Disallowed goal was onside.Second yellow a bit harsh, but seen ‘em given.Straight red might have been a yellow.Without those decisions we would have won that comfortably (probably 4-0).14

Showing all the qualities there of a terrible manager.MattF said:
The blokes f******g well and truly lost it now. Not a cat in hell's chance of him getting a tune out of this squad of players. He can chop and change as much as he likes (and regularly does!) It won't work!
There is one common denominator here. It's clear for anyone to see. Time to go and probably over duly so.17 -
Bought the season pass so my money’s already gone.Uboat said:I cannot believe that there are still people paying to watch the streams. That’s not a criticism. I just can’t believe it.
can’t stand wasting money, so I’ll watch every game if it kills me. 😂6 -
Perhaps we can try them two in centre defence on Tuesday?Lordflashheart said:

Sky are bonkers letting him go.5 -

Just 3 points from me as I'm too depressed to comment further.
1) Pratley should never play for this club again. What he did today was ridiculous.
I still can't believe how many people were praising him to high Heaven after the MK Dons game. To me, he's contributed nothing for months - when we attack he inevitably slows the play down or plays the ball back and we lose all momentum. And he is simply a red card waiting to happen at the moment.
And yet Bowyer has played him in every game this season apart from the Northampton and the ones where he was suspended.
2) I'd genuinely like to know what all those calling Schwartz a dud think of Jaiyesimi. He surely can't be as bad as he has looked in these last 2 home games? Can he?
If Bowyer has pushed Williams out for this young man, it looks a crazy decision at the moment
3) Albie Morgan must be sitting at home tonight laughing his head off. I can just see him texting his close friends at the club with a stream of laughing emojis.
Bowyer clearly doesn't like him and proves the point by bringing in a young Matt Smith who looks lost. Again abysmal management.
Surely TS is on the phone at the moment to a replacement manager ?3 -
He's literally at war with the squad. What a bizarre situation.11

He subbed someone just a few weeks back because they were on a yellow & didn't want to risk a red.FishCostaFortune said:
Maybe not even have him on the pitch in the first place when everyone could see it was going to happen. 4 subs at half time, which is bad enough, and not the bloke who was a ticking time bomb.stoneroses19 said:Good point from Curbs and Lisbie. What can you do as managerial staff when you trust a player to be your captain and they go ahead and do that 1 minute in to second half when already on a yellow.
If 99% of Charlton Life could see what was going to happen why couldn't Lee Bowyer?0 -
It’s all unraveling. I think we’re at the end game, this won’t go on much longerValleyGary said:Give us the real reason then?23 -
To be fair, Maddison now plays in League 2 and has no goals and no assists in 5 appearances. Didn't even make the squad today despite seemingly being fit. Oshilaja has never done it in the Championship. He was a lower half L1 defender who has never looked good enough at CB. He's playing at his level. Washington has 7 goals this season which is his third best ever goalscoring return in a season above non-league level, with 15 games still to go. He has never once scored 15 league goals in his Football League career. Gilbey has been a mystery this season, though injury and personal issues have affected him, and Shinnie was looking great before his injury. We hope players will be good or step up when they sign but I'd say mostly they're performing about as well as you'd expect. There's no way if we had the right money available we would have signed Maddison or Oshilaja, just no chance. Washington at a pinch.DamoNorthStand said:
