Results have been great given the opposition that Lee has faced since taking over... But apart from defeats against Barnsley and Bristol City (the last two games for Karanka) the form for Birmingham has been pretty consitent over the last ten games

This was also a good time to play Brentford (4 draws on the bounce and only 3 wins from last 11) especially as Birmingham didn't actually manage a single shot on target and Swansea (4 defeats on the trot and only once scored more than one goal in their last 13 matches).0 -
Two wins from ten before he took charge vs two wins from four since. When you look at the opponents from those respective runs, I don’t think you can deny he’s done well in difficult circumstances. It's old school management, like Mouronhio, go in there get them to blindly believe in the master. Work them HARD consistently.

It's early days admittedly but given how things went here and seem to be going at Birmingham, I can see this being something of a pattern/path for Bowyer in management - the guy who is called in for a "bump" at a club in a rut but maybe not a long term solution to problems.mascot88 said:It's old school management, like Mouronhio, go in there get them to blindly believe in the master. Maybe he will surprise me and was just burned out by the time he left us but unless he learns a more conciliatory side I can't see him changing his style, which comes with a fairly short lifespan in management terms.3 -

Not really fair on Brighton, for years they played in a tiny stadium with a pitch that was miles away surrounded by a shitty athletics track. As soon as they moved to the Amex (when they weren't a Premier league club) their average crowds shot up to 25k.Croydon said:

Brighton always had good support. A proper club.
Brentford appear to be 'Jonny come late-lies' at first glance, but I was surprised to see that they were a successful team in the early part of the last century.
I think the truth is that it always hurts when the clubs that we have always looked down upon as minnows with less support than ourselves have risen considerably in the last ten or so years when we have plummeted to the depths of football irrelevance due to our succession of shithouse 'owners'.
The likes of Bournemouth, Brentford and, most distastefully of all, the stripey heron-worriers spring to mind. Ouch.
I'm really hoping that Tommy et al can do something about restoring the balance in the next few years!5 -
Always find these arguments rather spurious. There is a perceived pecking order in football about what is a large and a small football club, which is of course obvious, i.e. Liverpool vs Accrington S. The blurred edges around what is a medium sized club is pronounced in England because there are so many of them, us included.
The only certain thing in football is that Millwall and Palarse are shit.5 -
