I went to a mass vaccination center, as opposed to gp or pharmacy. If you were a vigin you could get any prick, the second timers had to queue if they needed anything other than AZ.killerandflash said:It will be interesting how they manage the process now, as there will be a mixture of 40 something 1st dosers and 50 something 2nd dosers all being done at the same time, the 2nd dosers needing the same vaccine as first time round.
I imagine they're doing them on different days to make things simpler to organise2 -
Just had my first vaccine, AZ. Had to go all the way to Basildon which was a pain but as least it's done7

Latest Covid-19 vaccine progress
Our latest data shows we have vaccinated 90% of the top nine priority groups with at least one dose; and now 63% of all adults aged over 18 have been vaccinated.
Half of Kent and Medway's population in the top nine groups are now protected with both doses of the vaccine; that's 434,400 people. In the top four most vulnerable groups 88% of people have had both doses.
With vaccination now open to everyone aged 40 and over we have already vaccinated 50% of those aged 40-49; nearly 93,000 people.

I spoke to my sister in North Wales yesterday, and her sons aged 29, 22 and 21 will all have had their first vaccination by the end of next week! Amazing but I hadn't realised that some areas were this far ahead.2

That's a relief, thanks... Not feeling too bad today, guess it's flu like symptoms but very mild, just a bit fatigued and hot... But going on holiday just after the second so don't want go feel too rough!0

My daughter (23 years old, but works with disabled children, so in a higher risk job because the kids have no concept of Covid, and can bite and scratch) had her 2nd jab yesterday at 6.00pm - Oxford jab - she went off to work this morning with no side effects at all9

Most adults under the age of 40 will be given an alternative to the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine due to a link with rare blood clots.
The UK's medicines safety regulator says there have been 242 clotting cases after 28.5 million doses of the vaccine have been administered.
But the risk is slightly higher in younger age groups.
Low levels of coronavirus in the country and the supply of alternative vaccines has also led to the decision.
Prof Wei Shen Lim, from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), said: "Safety remains our number one priority.
"As Covid-19 rates continue to come under control, we are advising that adults aged 18 - 39 years with no underlying health conditions are offered an alternative to the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine, if available, and if it does not cause delays in having the vaccine."

I had my second jab yesterday. No side effects as far as I can tell. By the way, I think we will beat Hull 10-0, Portsmouth will lose 5-0 and Oxford will have four players sent off an lose 19-0. In the play-offs, we will each game by 6 or 7 goals. Funnily enough, the first jab made me a bit miserable and pessimistic, but it's good to know the second jab is having no noticeable effect as far as I can tell. Yippee.6

had my second jab on 24 April. No reaction whatsoever. If anyone uses the Patient Access App for appointments and ordering meds, you now have a record of your vaccinations history #VaccinePassport

2nd Pfizer jab yesterday, 6/5/21 .. no effects at all from 1st jab, so far just a slight sore arm from the 2nd

This piece from Chile seems to suggest (in the video) that the Sinovac Chinese vaccine they have widely used there is less effective against the Brazilian variant. https://www.channel4.com/news/covid-cases-surge-in-chile-despite-high-vaccine-uptake The W.H.O. has not yet ruled on this vaccine.

Just had my second AZ jab
I had wondered how my Health Centre would split things, and it's by the type of vaccine rather than the number, so today was AZ and Pfizer will be tomorrow3 -

New Public Health England (PHE) analysis shows for the first time that individuals who receive a single dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine have approximately 80% lower risk of death with COVID-19 compared with unvaccinated individuals.
The report also shows protection against death from the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine rises from approximately 80% after one dose to 97% after 2 doses.
Separate new PHE analysis also confirms the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is highly effective in reducing the risk of hospitalisation, especially in older ages.

With restrictions lifted completely in 6 weeks time how are the unvaccinated 18-40s feeling?
Given it takes 3 weeks to be effective I’m pretty certain I won’t be invited in time to be “first dosed” for opening up. I realise that the older group should bring about a level of immunity in the population but it makes me a little anxious.I have oval tickets for the 24th and I was convinced I’d be vaccinated by then when I booked them!1
