The tragic loss of Seb as @aliwibble says suddenly brought a lot of things into focus for many.
Seb represented so many Charltonians and his passing when it happened was poignant in the extreme.

It was a very productive meeting with Brogue, CAST (me), club chaplain Matt Baker, Mick Everitt, Tony Keohane and Tom Rubashow.

We hope very shortly to be able to present a full update on the Seb memorial.

Is his brother Ollie being consulted?

It's still shocking a year later, RIP Seb.

I bet I’m not the only Charltonian, not the only person, who has thought about Seb frequently in the past year.
As well as others we have lost.
Gut wrenching sadness at times, RIP to them all and hopefully peace to their friends and families...but the club statement is right, simply not the same.
  • It was the day that this damned pandemic really hit home, for me at least.

Still not fully sunk in, think it will for a lot of people once we are back at the grounds and the noticeable gap in his presence.

    RIP Sebbo.

I'm sure he's still doing the worm every time Charlton win.

To make this a reality, we need to raise a further £5,200 to add to the funds from the original appeal.

In the first hour of the new appeal, fans have donated £1,270, a quarter of the way towards the target already. Thank you.
  • Do we know if the crowdfunding link is on ALL Charlton forums ?

Seb may not be with us, but he'll never be forgotten.
Whenever I think of an away game Seb always comes to mind, as he was often the first Charlton fan you would see as you left the train station.
If he wasn't the first you would always seem his very soon.

Can't believe it's a year since Sebs passing. He is sadly missed by every Charlton fan, I'm sure he'll be happy at the final outcome of TS takeover. RIP Seb, god bless you.

I presume it will be made so that it can be movable easily enough when ground renovations or whatever take place in the future .

Yep, remember it vividly. I was sitting in my garage working and got a call to say a client of mine had just gone to hospital in an ambulance.  Then another call to say another client (aged 80+, recent heart surgery etc) had caught it in hospital.

I came on here for light relief and saw the news on Seb, a chap I never met but would recognize and remember seeing "the worm" at The Valley and at Brighton away.

I remember getting up from my seat and going for a walk to clear my head and kicking the wall as I left the garage!

Poor fella, so young.  The mosaic will hopefully be a great tribute and I am heading over to donate now.

Thankfully, my two clients are fit and well after their ordeals and so on the reflection day this week my candle was lit for Seb and his family. Sleep tight fella.
  • I still feel emotional when I think of our club, fanbase and Seb's family, losing someone so relevant. The thing that struck me about Seb, from seeing him everywhere we went, was that he came across as so ordinary (in a lovely unassuming way), yet he was anything but ordinary. He is missed and always will be.

I'd love there to be a Seb Lewis Stand, Suite or maybe even rename the team bus, so he gets to go to every game. I know there is going to be a memorial wall but it somehow doesn't do his unwavering commitment justice.

Out of interest, what would a statue cost?

    Rest in peace, Seb.

It actually annoys me that he's still involved with the club.

I love hearing it but it amazes me how many people seem to be unaware of the context of the song or who Seb was etc. Maybe it’s just where I sit…

How can you tell that from the chanting around you??

Sorry, I meant from the conversations that arise from the song. “What are they saying?”, “Who’s Sabbo?” Etc.

I love this. And in answer @JaShea99, hopefully the song itself will help everyone to know who Seb was and to remember him.

And soon he will have a permanent memorial at The Valley, thanks to the generosity of CAFC fans.

If it wasn't for this forum, I wouldn't have a clue who Seb was. A relatively small percentage of fans frequent forums like this - therefore likely that a significant number of fans won't have known who Seb was...
