If Lee Johnson had his way I'm sure Sunderland should have 4 or 5 penalties every game, the opposition should be down to 8 men and his own players would never do anything wrong ever.

Well I'm glad the team didn't think it was a free hit like some posters did !
And if you followed the pre match thread I predicted a win - all be it 2-1 as even I didn't think we could keep a clean sheet.
Now into a run of difficult games, starting with a big 6 pointer against Donny. They won today (although being 3-0 up they nearly three it away) and play their game in hand on Tues evening. Win next Saturday & we can then think about mid table obscurity.....4 -

Thought it quite funny actually as you've got Stockley down on one knee for the respect campaign and no one else following suit, Sunderland have just started the game3 -
Funniest thing today was when the referee blew for kick-off the players either forgot, or had agreed not to, to take the knee and the ball went to a Sunderland player who clearly was a bit confused by what was going on. Under Adkins, it seemed to me that players were totally fed up with his set up which, despite failing game after game, he persisted in using every time.
It must have been challenging for players to have to adhere to a system and gameplan that clearly wasn't working.

Not really sure why Sunderland fans are moaning about the ref. The ball hit Pearce in the face and it it didn’t it was blasted at him from 2 feet away, would’ve been a very harsh penalty. We could have had one for hand ball too. He missed what looked to me like an attempted elbow by one of their players on Pearce and played a whole extra minute of injury time on top of the 5 indicated. Thought he was an average league one ref so got some stuff right and some wrong but certainly didn’t particularly favour one side or the other.

Players to a man were excellent today, if I'm being picky it irks me they clearly had a performance like that in them but didn't fancy it under the last manager which makes me question their character but I've been doing that for about the last 12 months anyway
Dobson was particularly good and covered his defenders magnificently and played with a brain after getting a bit of a harsh yellow
Even if we had lost that today I would have been haooy with the application and intensity shown by the team, thats all I think any of us ever want from a Charlton side, to leave it all on the pitch and they did today25 -

That was what a proper Charlton team looks like. Felt like we were back in a Curbs or Powell era today. The effort from every single player was superb, all fighting for 95 minutes, for every single ball.It was more than just putting a shift in though. Set up in a 4-4-2, clear plan to be organised at the back and use the two central midfielders to get the ball wide and counter, especially to Leko was excellent today (maybe could have been a bit quicker and more direct sometimes?)Leko tried that type of cross to Stockley a few times, clear gameplan and a weakness they’d spotted. It worked.Could have had another maybe, Sunderland should feel unlucky not to have had a penalty at 1-0 down for handball. Looked like a penalty to me but would have to see it again.Great win, it’s going to lift us. Great to see Jacko at the end. The players clearly love him and he absolutely loves this club. When I saw that team, I thought we would be steamrollered, as it seemed full of attacking players who couldn't defend, but what an effort! I'm still staggered at how well Leko played defensively at right wing back. And it's been baffling why Dobson was out in the cold - I like Morgan, but playing him as the defensive midfielder on Tuesday was baffling when we have someone who actually plays in that position in the squad.
Yes there were team changes, but more importantly was the WAY we played. We were aggressive and busted a gut out there, both to get players flooding forward, and returning into defensive shape. It really showed how we've been underperforming this season, whether down to lack of effort or formations and tactics that just weren't working.11 -

Unless the referee considered the ball was already over the line and a goal, before the player handled?
With around 30,000 there, perhaps the referee was more concerned about getting out of the stadium alive?
