The team, after such a fine performance and win, thought they were going out on the lash tonight to celebrate.

But no, they've got to stay in the hotel and listen to Thomas playing his guitar. FACT!

Delighted to see the dearth of posts on here following the game. It must be a testament to how happy everyone is and that we are finally able to kick off a great Saturday night. I’ve only just paused between tipples to have a cursory glance.

Well done JJ et al. 👏👏👏👏

Sounded like we put in a much better shift.
    Deserved 3 points

12th position, we are coming for you

ive no idea how good Dobson is but i found it a bizarre he never even made the bench recently under Adkins when he was the only specialist (other than Arter when we arrived not fully fit) in a position we were clearly lacking. Well done Jacko

It's a shame that Adkins would not be swayed from his fixation with a failing system, can't believe we have waited this long in the season for someone to grasp the nettle and give the team a fighting chance. Well done Jacko and well done TS, you both had tough decisions to make this week and they paid off handsomely.

  • They must really hate us.

No idea if the stats back it up but it seems we're properly their bogey team. Great innit?

You know, I was just looking at the table ...... and see Ipswich now in 10th place, just 4 points behind the 6th placed club.

They've just won 3 out of their last 4 games.
But before that, they were only a point or 2 above us.

In this division, put a run together - and it can change everything.

One of the issues for Adkins, we identified and touched on on here. Wingers were a luxury that was killing us. We played with wing backs today, one a forward and one a defender and we were much more solid. The players certainly looked far better than many of us have been giving them credit for.

I thought Sunderland defensively were a decent side, so that is all the more credit to us. I felt that we were the better side in a tight, entertaining game and there are a lot of inferior sides to Sunderland to play. Maybe all of them!

I see Johnson is moaning about a headbutt from Stockley. I don't recall seeing one. I would be surprised if there was one. What O'Nein was doing was fouling him and Stockley was giving him some back and the ref caught Stockley more than O'Nein. I thought the ref was ok though. The only thing that seemed poor was him seemingly informing the fourth official of 5 minutes in the 85th minute. I thought, what about stoppages between the 85th and 90th, but maybe he will add them on. 5 Minutes were added although he did play a bit more.

Anyway, all in all we deserved the win against a good side  so there is not much not to like.

Superb performance all round. Some real stand outs with Dobson, Leko (though he does frustrate me sometimes that he doesn't get in the early ball when he should), Purrington (excluding that miss) and I thought Pearce was immense when he came on.

I don't want to over analyse too much. Could be the new manager bounce and all that but there is the nagging question of why did we not see this effort at any point this season?

Time will tell if it was just a one off or whether this could be the start of something. I'll enjoy this for a few days before going in to next week with at least hope rather than dread. COYA

I said in the match preview that we'd win 1-0 AND WE DID,, terrific performance and oh oh where would be be if Adkins had been sacked two months ago .. good selection, good tactics, and most importantly, the team played for Jackson whereas before this game they just didn't turn up.
I'll probably get rucked for this, but we committed (according to BBC statistics) the second highest number of fouls in L1 today, proof that at last the team is getting stuck in, although god forbid I should condone foul play o:) . Anyway, a great start against our whipping boys. Sunderland fans must hate the sound of the word CHARLTON
Now for the rest of the season

Thought Famewo was excellent today as well. Haven’t seen him get many mentions.

As someone who didn't fancy making the trip today, I am so pleased for those that did. It's brilliant that JJ and the lads got a win. Here's hoping for many more. I'm also so glad that we are a bogey  team for Sunderland. I've got nothing against them, but I'm struggling to think of another one, whereas there's loads of teams that seem to ave the Indian sign over us.

You do know that 'dearth' is a synonym of 'scarcity'?

There seems to me to be a lot of posts on here.

Light weights left out, battlers brought in & we win at Sunderland.
    Shame Adkins was clueless.

Just sick of the same 'professional' players that down tools every 6 months when they don't like the manager anymore.

Going from a decent Championship right-back to incapable of defending at the bottom of League One in two seasons?

Feel no connection to any of them.

    We are Sunderlands Millwall...

I can't think of another club that would all say "oh f*ck! Not Charlton again. That's us out then"

If we drew them in the 3rd round of the FA cup

Well cheer up either way mate. A club legend is at the helm and if they perform to how he wants, the love will come back sure enough.
