So it was 2 up top then?

I think we still have a lot of work to do but if we can get a win up there then we can hopefully pull away from the bottom.  A key win as well seeing as Doncaster won and so did Shrewsbury.

We just need to get clear of the relegation zone.  Anything we build from that point on is a bonus.  I know that doesn’t seem too ambitious, but I think the damage to this season has been done.  If anything it could be a great way for Jackson to cut his teeth.  He absolutely has to keep us up, but there’s no real expectation of him
  • I actually love Johnnie Jackson.

He’s a tosser, win, lose or draw.
  • What a performance - JJ set that team up perfectly and they put in a massive shift for the shirt and new boss. Been crying out for Dobson, Purrington and Washington to start and for only 1 winger and a return to 2 up front and hey presto the team and shape looked infinitely better. Makes you wonder what was going through Adkins head when he refused to pick Dobson after the first few games and chose to play Morgan as a holding midfielder against Accrington Stanley and pick Soare over Purrington.

Solid away performance just what the doctor ordered. Amazing what levels players can reach when they try and want to make the shirt theirs under a new guvernor. Great team effort all pulling for one another with pride in the badge.

Rode our luck a bit at times but we should’ve scored a couple before our opener. Upwards and onwards and more of the same please Jacko  you Charlton legend you 👏👍

Who was the third man in the technical area, I know it wasn’t Harry Lime but who was he? 🤔. Subsequently found out that it was Glyn Shimell, goalkeeper coach https://www.cafc.co.uk/news/view/60d04c861cb4f/glyn-shimell-appointed-as-clubs-new-goalkeeper-coach

  • The players should be ashamed of themselves for the awful performances they have put in this season. I dont remember Adkins ever crossing the white line and playing for us, yet he gets the blame whilst this bunch of chancers who havent put a shift in all season are lauded as heroes. They need to take a good look at themselves.

No - they don’t even show the Purrington ‘effort’ which was the best chance of the match.

If there's no footage of the alleged incident I don't see how it can retrospectively be punished?!

I thought he did book him for hand ball.

Did you have the stream? Dont think he booked that player, but then he booked another one, off camera, but Terry said presumably for arguing.

Hasnt been reported on the BBC website or the Charlton Match Report as was O'Nien

Flanagan got booked for dissent though

Well I'm glad the team didn't think it was a free hit like some posters did !

And if you followed the pre match thread I predicted a win - all be it 2-1 as even I didn't think we could keep a clean sheet.

Now into a run of difficult games, starting with a big 6 pointer against Donny. They won today (although being 3-0 up they nearly three it away) and play their game in hand on Tues evening. Win next Saturday & we can then think about mid table obscurity.....
But they may have felt it was a free hit. Less pressure on them, in a way than, than if we’d been away at relegation rivals. Doesn’t mean that you’re not going to fight as if your lives depended on it. I think you’ve got the wrong end of the stick when it comes to the meaning of free hit.

On todays performance, its exactly what they've done

They definitely played with a lot more freedom, whether that was JJ allowing them to, the players feeling free of Adkins or did feel like there was nothing to lose in this one game we will only tell in time. It really was like watching a completely different team today.
