It was a classic game of two halves. Better and best! In the first, we dominated the top-of-the-league Argyle without capitalising. And in the second, we dominated Argyle and put away two beauties! 😂

With an in-form Plymouth visiting a full Valley the scene was set for Johnnie Jackson’s newly-inspired Addicks looking to impress the visiting Sandgaard. And they didn’t fail to impress. From the opening whistle, the Addicks harassed and harried Plymouth from front to back. We dominated possession and imposed ourselves relentlessly. Plymouth look shellshocked for much of the first thirty-five minutes. We went into halftime with momentum from a dominant performance, but with no goal to show for it.

The second half didn’t disappoint with end-to-end action. Purringtodinho found himself at the back post from a long cross in from Dobbo. He pulled the ball out of the air and struck it past the Plymouth keeper with aplomb! We then went on with renewed confidence until Washington found himself through on a marvelous Lee punt from the back. Washington buried the ball past the keeper to put us two ahead.

Man-of-the-match? An impossible task. Gilbey and Dobson ran themselves into the ground. Elliot Lee did the same, providing inspired forward impetus. DJ ran his marker absolutely ragged and put in cross after cross into dangerous areas. Pearce was a rock at the back. Famewo had his man in his back pocket. Clare wasn’t much troubled and linked well with DJ to turn defense into attack. Washington and Davison picked their opportunities to strike and harassed from the front to good effect. When Burstow came on in his debut, he did himself proud. Collectively, they made Plymouth look ordinary.

Clean-sheet win!

Charlton 2 Plymouth Argyle 0

Jacko makes this management lark look easy! And the crowd was absolutely brilliant throughout. What an atmosphere. The Sandgaard’s must be buzzing!

Over to you.

I think with Famewo we just have to accept that he can't pass the ball. He has to be the best defender in the league. Norwich will want him back
  • that was perhaps the biggest statement win. 9 points off the playoffs

    Plymouth bragging rights again 😉
  • 1:10am here, buzzing, what a performance 👋👋👋 wish I could be there... wow
  • Beat Sunderland (6th), should've beaten Rotherham (2nd), beat Plymouth (top). Promotion charge is well and truly on.
  • Sandgaard best pull his finger out, Jacko might fancy the Man Utd job

Ah well, we can only beat what's put in front of us.
Let's move on to the bigger challenges ahead.
They've only been unbeaten in 17 games. And are top of the league.

Now in the top half, just shows how quickly things can change. Onwards and upwards.

Jackson must surely be naming his own terms on any contract by now.

    And I bet they are!

Even the Rotherham manager said they had escaped with a point, Charlton were the best team they had played this season.

  • Unbelievable, buzzing, but also anxious that Sangaard is going to get this wrong. For Christ sake give him the job. Stupid to wind us up by  saying he is talking to others. Why am I feeling angry about it right now.

excellent team performance. Should have had a bagful of goals.
  • Outstanding performance all round

Famewo was an absolute rock at the back of Defence, was a little worried when Pearce went off, especially as it resulted in Plymouth's best spell of the game but Gunter did his job well.

Felt first half we did really well, but a bit like Burton last week I thought we were a bit fart with no substance.

Also thought that we'd be made to rue that first period as expected Plymouth to improve massively in the second period - All credit to Jackson though to set out a game plan to ensure we kept control.

Fair play as well to Washington, was invisible until the break, but had a stormer of a second, not to mention his calm finish as fully expected him to square it to Burstow.

What has happened at the Valley? Yet to rate Jacko as a tactical genius, and still don't understand why the players wouldn't play for Adkins. Cannot get my head around it.
  • I was 100% sure the playoffs were beyond us after our early form. They most definitely are not. COYR
