Should a country be allowed to refuse entry to triple vaccinated British citizens with a negative test, as is currently the case in the UK, isn't it?
I'm trying to work it out. The UK government website seems to be saying that quarantine is necessary even for vaccinated citizens with a negative test.
The French government website seems to be saying no entry at all.

I'm not talking about a foreign country. I'm talking about British citizens entering Britain.

Nothing about being banned from entry... As long as you comply with the rules.0 -

So, back to Novaxx, the news that a relatively obscure Czech player, Renata Voracova, has been caught in the same trap, is throwing a sharper focus on Tennis Australia. Unlike Novaxx, she actually got through border control and had already played a match before the border police came and carted her off to the same hotel. She has decided to tell the Aussies where to shove their tournament and is returning home. Here is what she has told the Czech press:
"I did everything they asked for. They didn't just give an exception just like that. Tennis Australia claimed that the covid infection in the past six months was enough. Maybe they misled us, which is annoying. I wanted to focus on tennis and not on visas, quarantine. It's weird that I spent that week, played a match ... and then they came for me."
From her words here, I assume that she too has not been jabbed; however she also seems to confirm what has been suggested re Novaxx, that Tennis Australia said a covid infection recovery in the last 6 months was OK, when in fact they had no grounds for saying that. The difference of course is that neither she nor the Czech government have accused "Australia" of "stomping on the Czech Republic", although the consulate has sent the Oz govt a letter of complaint, which presumably focuses on the confusion of advice, and the fact that she actually passed the border control! She just hasn't done the "Don't you know who I am" act, and actually neither would Petra Kvitova have done that in her shoes.
The problem increasingly looks like a clash of two bell-ends- Novaxx, and Oz PM Scott Morrison.0 -
Even if they were allowing a covid infection recovery in the last 6 months wouldn't this rule out Novax as I believe his case was in June last year?0

I know the parents are not the most reliable source, but it sure would be a nice side effect if this shines some light on how Australia treats immigrants and refugees.8 -

Voracova has not yet said whether she is jabbed; however even if she is not, she’s not making some big “freedom” defence about it; she is simply saying that she followed the rules that were given to her by Tennis Australia; and now she has found out they are not the rules, she has accepted that, and gone home. However she is entitled to be pissed off, because she would have not bothered in the first place if she knew that she could not fulfil the actual rules of entry. Thats why I didnt come over to the opening game in August. I managed to discover the nonsense of the Day 2 PCRs and how much they cost, before I booked, and decided that I wasnt having any of that shit, even though it meant missing out on friends family and footie once again. However non Brits have not been so lucky in finding out about it.Lets not pretend that incompetence and show-boating isnt inherent in the Covid policies both in the UK and, it turns out, our former colony. Novax can still do one because he is showboating too.1 - Sponsored links:

So he's probably asked someone to borrow a positive test and hoped that would make him OK?0

All that said, I would really recommend to read Barney Ronay's take on Novax and this affair. As so often Barney shows he's a better man than me, despite being a Spanner. Deffo worth your time, even if at times his prose gets a bit flowery (and not in a Spanner way)

Let's just hope he's being a dick and lying to the appeals process, in which case he can probably expect to be ineligible for an Australian visa in the future, rather than being a dick by deliberately spreading Covid.10 -

Upon reflection, I would just pay attention to the UK website After all we are entering the UK so it's best to go by the UK website. When you arrive in the UK the authorities will refer to information and rules on their own website. Once in the UK, the French one would be irrelevant. It's best to ignore the French website as we're entering the UK.
It's confusing for people coming from France though0 -

Possibly backed up if the photos of him out and about the day after are genuine.0 -

Haven't really read enough about it but my first thoughts on reading that Djokovic's lawyers are claiming that he tested positive as recently as 16 December were that it seems extremely convenient.
Given that he couldn't have feasibly left it that much later to test positive, isolate, be clear and then travel, did Djokovic spend the second week of December hanging around outside testing centres asking anyone with symptoms to cough on him?
It doesn't take much of a cynic to suspect that he might well have got a fake result from any Serbian doctor.
What was their plan if he hadn't tested positive?

Also reading a bit more into the court documents, apparently his visa was actually approved in November, which was therefore way before he supposedly caught covid.
So he's claiming that he is exempt even though no such exemption existed at the time his visa was issued. All a bit of a mess really.0
