Love him but not the sort of player we need to progress.
    Plays 1 misses 3.

    Poor decision
He was on the pitch for 38 games last season so by my maths it means he only missed 8 games.
  • Was it ever revealed what the injury issues were/are?

  • I know some people are making fun about the letting him go then paying a fee to get him back.

But was Cole Stockton on our radar?

Just wondered how much  would get him to the valley?

If it’s 500k - 1m then I don’t think it makes the Chuks transfer fee look too bad?

All about opinions I know, just another way of looking at it.

Might mean we can bring in a goal scoring midfielder we are way too light in that area.

Elliot Lee good technical ability at times, but  is way too inconsistent and corners are woeful, I can see why Luton want to move him on.

I just want to get out and stay out of this poxy league!

  • If he can stay fit, it's a great signing.
  • It certainly makes a difference when a new signing can walk through the doors, know the coaches and recognise most of the players

Stockley, Washington, Davison, Leko, DJ, Gilbey, Morgan, JFC, Watson, Matthews, Gunter, Pearce, Famewo, Purrington

I guess it also provides cover for Lee. Was it LB who signed him as a #10 originally?
The length of contract is probably shrewd. If he fires us to promotion next season, we can sell him at a profit to another L1 club, as I think the championship is a league to high for him.
  • 3.5 year deal, even at £4k pw, + a mooted £300K transfer fee, has cost TS £1M+.
That’s true, but if young Burstow turns out to be the player we think he might then he will be sold for $5 million in today’s market and having a very strong player like Aneke alongside him can only help make that happen.
  • Had this been a loan til end of season then being able to access his fitness & performance levels then it’s a good signing, buying now, not for me
Certainly not on a three & a half year contract, that's fucking madness.

Well let’s go with uninspiring and waste of money and I am sure will be better about end of season

Leko  and now him now great scouting
Politicians answer. You have avoided golfers question, who is better for £300k?
  • but now he does.

Cynics might say that he tried the Championship & was found wanting
You don't have to be a cynic to draw that conclusion.  Leko is another, otherwise we wouldn't have got him back on loan from a different second division side.

Leko loaned from Brum as well.
  • I’m more than happy that he’s back.
we know exactly what we’re getting and in his last season with us he played quite a lot for a player with his injury record.
It’s always a risk with whoever you sign.
Did he make a correct decision not to stay and player under the hapless Adkins? The answer’s an emphatic yes and who could blame him.
    He’s exactly what we need.
    welcome back Chuks!

Good, we can sign that better striker at the end of the season too. Aneke, Stockley, better than Aneke, Washington and Burstow is promotion quality. Davison still needs replacing with someone better, hopefully this month rather than in the summer.
  • only slight concern, and probably worrying about nothing, is that chucks said jacko wants him to be the focal point of the team - well that is stockley atm so is stockley's injury bad or is he off? probably neither but just noticed it and wondered - the fact he doesn't play full games probably means it is nothing coz if chucks is a direct replacement, what will we do for the other 60 minutes of the matches?

I think he means when he is on the pitch. 99% of the time he will be coming on in 60th minute to replace Stockley.

no chance Jacko thinks Aneke can handle starting every week.

Not sure about this one. I think an impact player at best and the length of the contract worries me, especially for a player who can't play for 90 minutes and if he does needs a rest next game.
  • Unless it’s changed, Medical’s were a necessity for insurance purposes.
The suggestion that he may not of had one would leave the club liable should his career be ended by injury.
Also as suggested a longer term contract spreads his salary ie 15k on 18mths or 7.5k on 36mths.
As is he what we need and can he do the job, I prefer to wait until he’s at least put his boots on first. 😉

  • I thought  it also was to protect the transfer fee. If so , with his fitness record we could only probably get third party cover. 15 k for a maybe part time player seems money for old rope.  Why does this club burn money on some siy transfers. Arter was another . He was on 32k apparently at Forest.
Let's immediately dispel the notion that his salary is anything near 15k and that we're paying that, until something is verifiable/comes from a normally reliable source. Nip this one in the bud early
  • Please be aware of “ie” before the 15k , I have no idea what he’s earning nor is it my business 😉👍

West Ham fans want a word.
  • When I read on the match preview thread that we've got him back I was pleased.

I didn't imagine that we'd spent 300 grand and given him such a long contract however. I like Chuks but he's made of glass. It's further proof to me that TS wants what we all want, but that he's got a few screws loose.
  • Good signing and I hope he comes off the bench today and scores the winner (if he is on the bench)
  • Starting up front with Burstow

If, as is highly likely, he has passed 2 medicals in 8 months its not a current injury issue is it.  If he had a degeneration type issue like Paul McGrath, Leadly King, Chris Solly etc etc we would know about it because, we'll we would.

He doesn't seem to have the multiple different muscle injuries Inniss has or hamstrings like Danny Haynes.

Without speculating on what the specific problem is I would guess its more a case of who he is as opposed to there being something actually wrong with him.

  • Hearing rumours Birmingham have put in a bid for him.
    100k I've heard
