I mean it's far from a given that Derby WON'T still go under. Things are going (relatively) well on that front for them currently but the EFL have bent over backwards to give them extra chances - we can't assume we'd have been given the same.
Plus Derby have the advantage of an owner who is not an incorrigible, stubborn idiot with unrealistic expectations of value that would skew the entire process.0 -
Maccn05 said:Each to their own. I personally think that like Derby now we wouldn’t have gone under. Obviously it would have been a torrid time for the club … but that wasn’t the question.
As I’ve repeated I’m not a fan of the personality but I genuinely hope he makes a HUGE success of us - I just don’t think he will.Your opinion that he won’t make a huge success of running us so far is valid. I think we have to give him and Jackson this summer to sort it out. This season was only TS’ first full season in running us. Questions remain over his refusal to hire a full time CEO, but if we have a good summer in the transfer market, then maybe we can be challenging. It’s a big ask currently though1 -
The reason we are doomed is not that TS is an idiot (he clearly isn't) or malicious (he seems very decent) or that he is running another business in the USA (not impossible) or that he knows little about professional football (he can get decent advice).
In my view, the problem looks like ( I have no inside information) that he is micro-managing the football side together with his son and they are not qualified to do so which is damaging performances and frustrating everyone else at the club.
Why is the owner interviewed after the Fraser signing to tell us how he was target and how has the right attributes etc ? - surely this should be the manager of the first team?
Why did we sign big Ronnie Schwartz?
Why is the owner commenting on the intensity levels of training at Sparrows Lane?
Why is he even at Sparrows Lane on a regular basis?
Why did he fall out with Nigel Adkins who was so nice?
I am just hoping the persistence with 3-5-2 is entirely Jackson's personal obsession and he is not being directed from above.

The interview with Radio London last Wednesday and the meeting with the trust the following night summed him up in a nutshell.
Good intentions but is stubborn and will do what he wants regardless of what other people think. That may be his downfall0 -

Thomas saved the club.
Thomas has made a right mess of this season.
Thomas is saying things that suggest he might do the same next season - like employing his totally inexperienced son as part of the recruitment team.
Thomas is a decent human.
Thomas needs some CEO football experience to help run the club.
All these statements are true, imo.As has increasingly been the case in life in general lately, questioning something is greeted with calls of lunacy, to get back in your box. ‘You’ve never run a football club, so shut up’.
This idea that the fans should keep quiet and carry on because they haven’t pumped £millions in is bullshit. Thomas is fronting up and that should be applauded. But he’s also got broad enough shoulders to take some criticism for what has been an abject season.
Yes there wouldn’t be any negativity if we were top….because he would’ve got the infrastructure right! It is perfectly acceptable and indeed healthy to question things. We don’t seem to do that enough in all walks of life anymore. Instead sleep walking into ‘Keep your head down and move on’.I wish Thomas all the best. But he can take the rough with the smooth.8 -

He makes himself available to fans and reporters which is highly desirable in an owner IMO. Unfortunately for you this means he is asked questions and he answers them.
He is often at Sparrows Lane as getting Cat1 is key to the future of our club.
He fell out with Adkins because he kept losing. Adkins was frustrated with TS because we did not recruit quick enough. TS has since got rid of the ‘football expert’ he appointed to oversee this.
Your comment about formation is very disrespectful of JJ and I am quite shocked you think so poorly of him.2 -

Redrobo - you say that TS's son is highly qualified for his job at CAFC - why
from what I have read he played for Enfield for a short time, got bored and went to work for TS1 -

My impression is he really enjoys the attention of being in the media spotlight.
You may have more information about his son's professional qualifications and inside information to disprove my micro management theory. If so, please enlighten us. Is MS just a data analyst or is he his father's 'eyes and ears in the club' too? These are two very different roles and may be mutually incompatible.
If Thomas Driesen was installed as a club spy for Roland when Powell was in charge, people would have been rightly furious.
No offence or disrespect intended to you or Jackson. I was really enthusiastic when he was appointed and had faith in him as a manager but something is clearly dysfunctional given the budget we have.
I would be delighted to know the truth, or even hear a better theory, to explain our continual abject performances, Jackson's personality change and the inexplicable insistence on repeating the same failed approach every match.0 -

He’s put all his chips down and finding out which players are suited to the way he wants to take this club forward. Some are showing they want it and others haven’t.1 -

I do think he's a bit like RD as far that is concerned tbh
I think TS has shown he's learnt a bit already (importance of fan engagement), but it's undeniable that he needs to learn faster (CEO, proper scouting network, sign early to sign cheaper).
So long as we see more of the learning and some level of progression, I'll be happy.
Someone who has made many mistakes and learned from them has more experience and knowledge than someone who has never made a mistake.
I'll be honest here, I won't pretend that I KNOW that Sandgaard will do well here, but have a good feeling and know I could be wrong. There are some though that are adamant already that they KNOW that he won't turn it all around and some of those seem genuinely invested in the hope he'll fail - which I'll never get.2 -

As for what managers say in interviews, they answer in keeping with their employment so no criticism or negativity is ever reported as they want to keep their jobs.1 -

When this came up about 433 (or versions of) I am sure 8 of the last 9 clubs promoted from this divison played 433.0 -
