Post-Match Thread: Accrington Stanley vs Charlton Athletic | Saturday 12th March 2022

Surprise! The rots back.

We started brightly. Then we got a break with a very soft handball that lead to a Stockley penalty. 1-0 Charlton.
Accrington worked their way back in and scored two. We have gifted so many soft goals this season… it’s painful.

Midway through the second half, Accrington had a player sent off for an elbow to the face of Clare. We then started to apply some pressure, but nothing too much until Washington broke through and put the ball in the net with a beautiful strike on the turn. Unfortunately, it was ruled out for a soft handball. Karma? Karma? Karma… Chameleon.

Accrington 2 Charlton 1

Over to you.

Zero difference from Adkins. Job is too big for Jackson, he shouldn’t be here at the start of next season.

Jacko needs to keep us up and then walk, before he tarnishes his legend status.

Bowyer : “bad manager, doesn’t know his best formation”

    Adkins : “bad manager, doesn’t have a plan B”

Jackson : “bad manager, won’t change his formation”

    Whats the common denominator?

Jacko probably close to getting the boot here. Right bloke, wrong time. Reckon he’ll be very good elsewhere if he’s let go.

    Jackson apologist's handbook:

    1) It's because JJ's future is uncertain
    2) It's because all our strikers are injured. When we get Stockley back we'll be okay.
    3) It's because we're playing all the top teams at the moment.
    4) It's because we need Washington back to press teams properly.
    *** still losing ***
    5) It's because the players are shit.

Jacko's 'learning on the job' apparently. I've not seen 1 bit of progress since he became permanent manager. Not good enough. We need a manager who knows what he is doing now, and Jacko has to go.

  • We are sleepwalking to relegation.
    What a crock of shit.

Adkins is available. Two promotions from this division. Oh

Don’t care how much you think the players have downed tools, or don’t care - and quiet frankly I’ll be happy to see the back of all of them apart from Dobson next season.

But if you think this coaching team and set up is the right one to take us forward with a new group of players, we are going to find ourselves back in this exact same position next season.

Not being able to even look like we were going to create a chance against 10 men sitting back, shows the issues go far beyond just the players.

We were lucky not to lose against Sunderland, the rot hadn't really been stopped. Just have to hope teams below us don't have enough in them as I don't know where our points are coming from.

6 points handed to Accrington Stanley. Embarrassing. Our record against 10 men matches our record in Cup games.

JJ is showing himself to woefully inept tactically but these players have no pride or fight either.
  • Got 4 huge matches coming up against relegation rivals. Tuesday has become a massive game. The back 5 is not working.

    Goals looked comical again.

All fart, no shit as per usual
at times we seemed to play the ball round well but no real penetration!

Need a huge clear out, Clare/Dobson/stockley/Washington/frazer should be the only ones near the team next yet!
  • 1 (fortunate) point from 7 games. And still he persists with this formation.

Seriously think we need a clean break, new manager, backroom staff etc, rip it all up and start again.

Pretty sure Washington shouted the c word at the ref.

T-Shirt line needs to be the published rule.

  • How low have we sunk. JJ is not the man, when Adkins went they all should have gone.

One half of world is trying to kill the other half, at the moment i could not give a flying fuck if 11 men who pull on a Charlton shirt could not beat 10 men of a team  who's name i can't even spell.
    Thats how shit this is!!
For fuck sake someone at Charlton Athletic care!!

Nobody with any bottle in the club, pathetic.
  • Methinks something very, very wrong at the club that goes far deeper than just the players, manager coaching staff.

    3 bad managers.
Four promotions out of this league between them. Three as managers, one as assistant. I don’t believe they are all bad managers.

Who do you want to go and get? And how do they get more out of these players?

It's official, we are the softest touch in League One. What a bunch of namby pamby bottle jobs. We totally failed to compete, even when they went down to 10 men part way through the second half.
Where’s the will to win? Why did we persist with 3 at the back even after they went to one up front to bolster the midfield? Johnnie Jackson has to shoulder at least as much of the blame as the players on the pitch. We do absolutely need wholesale changes. Just take their centre back Sykes for example. He isn’t cultured but he won absolutely everything, not giving Stockley either a kick or a header the whole game. If we can’t get him, or someone like him, with our resources, that says a lot about our recruitment. Young, fit, strong, brave , good in the air, competitive - it isn’t bloody rocket science. No more excuses this next transfer window. We can and should get rid of all the soft touches, all the injury prone and dead wood. I can’t wait.

I’m very much looking forward to finding out who the couple of players are who are going to make all the difference next season!
