As it stands we probably need 3. The 2 loans will need replacing. Clayden, Morgan, JFC, Inniss and Clare are all in their last year. Maybe no loss in terms of quality but you do need numbers.
That's 10 next summer, less what ever we sign at Christmas.
That's before we sell any assets to try and break even. Good luck doing that without spending more money.
I really can't square that circle.
It doesn't work like that in L1. The best players and the talented youngsters will be targeted by bigger clubs in January or next summer. Players out of contract at the end of the season will be considering other clubs, and if they get better offers will leave then or be sold in January to get a fee. Loan players go back at the end of the season (if not recalled in January).
Read it & remember it when we get to this time next year and then see if we are stronger because we've had 2 more transfer windows.
Pah......TS & Co couldn't run a whelk stall.0 -
PWR - Was at the game, simply, we do not have players good enough to play Garners system. Totally over run in midfield, they walked through the middle on numerous occasions. Special mention to Stockley and Kirk who were woeful.3

Watched the game. Bolton’s system outdid ours and we didn’t have a plan B until the last 5 minutes. Our passing at times was a lot worse than in recent weeks which brought more pressure upon ourselves and I would have hauled off Stockley, Kirk, Morgan and Clayden for Leaburn, CBT, McGrandles or Payne and Chin to try something different, but alas Garner’s subs came way too late.Poor team and management performance yesterday to add to the hangover of the recruitment team’s incompetence 48 hours earlier.Max points now need from Exeter and Forest Green, otherwise L1 mid table mediocrity nigh on a cert.1

I am not wanting to single out Clayden who has been 'thrown in at the deep end'.
But if you watch Bolton's goals he was at fault for all 3 (not the only one responsible and as he's not a defender so it feels harsh to point it out).1 -
We do seem to be a bit of a bogey team for you guys.
Got a slice of fortune with our handball equaliser but overall deserved the win anyway and it was a well worked goal, that even without a handball, should have been scored 9 times out of 10.
Didn't think you played badly, very tidy in possession but lacking in quality up front. Your attacking options seemed quite limited. Stockley was in Santos' pocket. Number 17 had nice skill and was denied by our GK with some smart saves but you didn't create many clear cut chances.
I can't remember Bolton ever scoring a quick free kick like that for our 3rd, so we caught you off guard there which is a bit unlucky for you as that killed the game off.
I thought you lacked a bit of bite and character in midfield. When you're trying to be a technical possession team it's easy to point the finger of having a soft underbelly. We've certainly had that phrase thrown at us a few times. I thought after seeing your result vs Plymouth that you may be a dark horse to make the playoffs but as Garner said post-match you're lacking a bit of depth at the moment and you need that for a long season.
Seems like you're getting back on the right track though with the new manager and playstyle so good luck for rest of the season.

Good comments and very fair so thanks @PratleyArmy
You looked like a team/club that's about a year or so ahead of us yesterday. Immensely frustrating given you only came back to this level last season but we've been overtaken before and I'm sure we will be again!
Good luck.8 -

Thank you for your support today, Addicks. Wishing you all a safe journey home.3

I don’t really feel much about the owner one way or the other. Just sick of the sight of him.3

The standard at the top of L1 is improving but sadly we seem to be left behind. We have a mid table squad as far as I can see.3

We’ve lost two games so far this season in all competitions. Some need to get a grip! It’s not a disaster to lose against Bolton, we always lose at their place, we need players back from injury that’s plain to see and we will then have depth on the bench. Win the next two and the mood will change, which is a common theme with our emotional fan base. COYR!3

When and if Aneke and Inniss return from injury. How long before they get injured again?2
-
At the game.
Disappointing result. Thought we were well in it after starting positively in the second half. If we had Charles I think we’d be close to autos. If we had Santos as well we’d really be right in the mix.I’m not sure we can have Rak Sakyi and Kirk in the same team as I think it over exposes us when playing stronger teams.I think Payne and McGrandles will be in the team soon enough, as will a couple of others once fit. Garners statement after the game reflected a mini gloom/dawn of reality on where the team is at and this was similar to a gloomy mood in the away end.
We need to win the next two home games, as if we don’t I feel we’ll see even more fans drift away. I’m clinging on to Garner’s early days at Swindon and hoping that things will click and we’ll go on a run!2 -

Injury prone players get injured. With both Chuks and Ryan they look as if they spent too much time on weights which some how appears to turn them into scary doormen but unfit players.
Does anyone know if my theory has any credibility as it just appears so to me 🤔0 -
If Man U can leave their captain on the bench, why can't we?

1st goal Clayden lost possession in midfield. Bolton scored down our left where he should have been.
2nd goal Clayden totally sold himself / over committed and they broke into the wide open space he left and scored.
3rd goal He let the man he was marking run from him in a short free kick & they scored. Maybe they only took the free kick short because they knew how poor Clayden was.0 -

I don’t mean it to sound harsh Re: your opinions, and I completely get the suggestion being put forward, but anyone of them playing through the middle and the three of them together is a bit Leko & Lee last season when we had the injury crisis up top, makeshift.
If anything you give Leaburn a start alongside CBT and JRS maybe. However, I don’t think he’s ready for that burden to start yet5 -
DJ up top would be as pointless as Stockley2
