I wish her well. We won't know the full details of course but if her family are rushing to her side it is ominous as they will know people will draw conclusions from that which i what I am doing I suppose.0

BrentfordAddick said:I'm a fan of the Queen if not the institution and for me this decision to cancel programs and wear black and all that to be really distasteful. Unfortunately we are in an age when everything has to be 24 hour news and reaction, even when there is nothing to say. Frankly it's verging on goulish, like they want to put a countdown clock on it or something. Thing is, journalists have been rehearsing for this for years and years and they have all got excited.2

Sort of inevitable yet shocking.
I hope she pulls through.1 -
Hear me out with this one.If she does go today, I think it wouldn’t be a bad time to go at all in the long term, because she will go down as the head of state who served right up until death (she welcomed Truss in as PM just two days ago). That’s some innings and some way to go out. All due respect intended of course.0

Just switched on BBC World and it just seems to be someone called Witchell delivering a monologue, and admitting there is no news expected for the moment.
Sadly, and I speak as a Republican, the coverage very much suggests the worst.
Hope she is comfy and at peace.1 -
Not sure why people have to spew bile and just generally shit views.
Royalist or not, this is a woman who will be leaving behind sons and a daughter along with grandchildren and great grandchildren. You cant deny her legacy and general work ethic along with devotion to a nation where she was still doing her duty up to 2 days ago.
Have some compassion FFS.15 -

the cover the coverage is all very sombre and lots of black ties being worn. The fact the family are all travelling would suggest her passing is iminent.
hope I’m wrong

Incredibly sad regardless of how inevitable. I hope The Queen is as comfortable as she can be.

Sorry, but I don't think your own post is at all helpful in avoiding the situation you describe.8 -

Better to be ahead of the news than leaving it to the Sun or some rag to leak it.7 -

Operation London Bridge above is the standard procedure - You'll notice that one of the actions is for the BBC to dress in black, once its happened - Of course because she's in Scotland; Operation Unicorn comes into effect.

Think of how many world events she's been front and center of representing the country.2 -
I suspect she has already died . All presenters are wearing black and are all but saying so.Officially the announcement will be made ( if it has happened) at 6pm .I hope I’m wrong .(I think I’m right in saying that the country will be in 12 days of mourning and all sporting events will be cancelled )0

DamoNorthStand said:Nicholas Witchell was speaking and stuttered halfway through just now - and frankly sounded like he was about to start crying. His whole voice changed halfway through a question..... Its like something had just come through to him.
That may be because Prince Charles fell out with Witchell two decades ago and slagged him off so may fear for his Job; Nicholas not Charlie.0 -
What irritates me a bit is that the Queen is expected to do certain things and if she doesn't there is gossip. She is a 96 year old woman and shouldn't be expected to do anything and it shouldn't be news if she doesn't. Every duty she performs, including meeting the new prime minister should be able to be done by Prince Charles representing her. We don't know how much of a struggle that might have been and if she didn't it would be all over the news! She has served her country well and for our part we should be happy that she is the Queen and somebody else performs all her duties when required. If laws needed changing, we should have changed them.1

I imagine there will be something at 6:00pm.
It's already when the BBC do their news announcement in the evening and when most people will have finished work and back at home to watch.1 -

I know many do not share my sentiments, but I am a royalist. They are privileged but they spend their lives in the spotlight acting as a celebrated party host for visiting dignitaries, never able to say what they really think about "their" latest idiotic government. I wish her peace and a painless passing if it is her time.
Having said that I won't spend hours watching yhe coverage etc.3 -
very wrong to speculate, but i think it's likely we'll have news very soon and that we're waiting for the family to be together.0

Jesus some of the posts for a cheap laugh on twatter are astounding
Sometimes it really is better to say nothing at all
Wonderful servant to our nation and truly the end of an era 😟9
