Really struggling to explain how I feel.
All I ask is if you can’t say anything nice, or have a modicum of doubt it might be controversial, please please just don’t post it.
If you feel the need to pull someone up on their post, then don’t. Just swear at your screen at that person, ignore responding and leave it with the moderators.

Ive just seen the news and the main guy is wearing a black jacket and tie. Surely you wouldn’t wear a black tie because the queen is not very well? I‘m now just dreading the announcement.2

To lighten the mood a little, I met The Queen and Prince Philip in 1992 when they visited my work - didn’t get a photo with The Queen but shared a joke with Philip which was caught on camera for our staff magazine - this was when Lord Flash still had hair …..

Very surreal and sad if the worst does happen. The queen has been the one constant figurehead since forever2
-
It's called old age not an illness per se and after losing a partner after over seven decades of being together. At 96 the Queen has only really looked frail in the last 12 months after losing her Rock, Philip.
I'm not a Royalist but the Queen put a shift in and she did her duty. I can't see her record of longevity on the crown ever being beaten now and Victoria 63.7 years and George III 59.2 Years are 2nd and 3rd to Elizabeth II reign of over 70 years.4 -
What's extraordinary is that the last time the British monarch passed away, most people didn't even have a TV, and telegrams were the way important information was sent around the world12

Grrrr.... BBC need to piss off at the moment.
I dont like her, but they're having a proper dig at the Duchess of Sussex who hasn't travelled to Balmoral.
They made a side note that the Duchess of Cambridge hasn't travelled either, but that's because someone has to look after the kids - Press need to leave this sort of bullshit out of events for the time being!!.
Sorry for the rant.11 -

I’m not a royalist but I’m not really against having a a hereditary monarchy. Not really interested, they are so far detached from my world. But,She is mother and served her country a bloody long time. She deserves respect. If only other leaders were as good.8

Sorry for the rant. They literally do not need to say anything about public opinion on Kate, Harry, Andrew or whoever, this is about the Queen and nobody else.8 -

The sort of figurehead that is irreplaceable. The last few hours I’ve had people from India, USA in particular who I work with wanting to know what’s happening. We’re talking about unarguably the most recognisable person in modern history. Surreal to think that the moment could be here, really.2

There has never been and there will never be someone who has served and represented their country like The Queen.11

Regardless, it is a very sad and completely human situation regardless of her position.5 -
One thing to bear in mind is that they are a family, just like our own families - albeit I know their lives are extremely different - if she has passed away, then the family need to be together first, and have their time together, before the rest of the world is told16

Even the sign wearers are wearing black,😳,obvs the newsreaders don’t know yet if it’s happened or not as I’m sure one would have slipped up by now,I don’t think it’s right about the black & I think it’s in pretty bad taste till the announcement wether it’s today tomorrow or the next…
will be sad times whenever it’s made public, been a great servant to our country & dedicated her life serving us,Legend0 -
Remarkable that the Queen's first PM Churchill was born in 1874 and Truss 101 years later in 1975.9

I’ve got no time for the monarchy. Load of old tosh. But this legend of a lady has grown on me over the last few years. Given her life for her role and duty and looks to me like she is a bit of a laugh. I respect her and wish her well and her family. Speaking as someone who has lost both parents.6

I’m watching BBC and they have filmed the family driving into Balmoral - now showing a freeze frame of Andrew and Edward in a Range Rover both looking very unhappy indeed - it’s awful isn’t it - at a time of great worry about your mother, the world is filming you
If that happened to me when I went to Darent Valley Hospital in 2017 knowing that my Dad was going to pass away within hours, I would have poleaxed the cameraman for intruding on a very personal moment in my life
I know they live their lives in the public eye, but that freeze frame was a bridge too far for me - inappropriate in the extreme7 -

I know they need to talk, and fill the void but cmon, the press equally need to draw a line at some stage.
Love how they occasionally come out with AFKA's: "Cmon guys..." with their "This is a Mother not just a queen" line - Its almost as if the BBC aren't the ones coming out with it themselves0 -

I don't much care for the royal family, but HRH has put in many years of service to her nation. But they are just people, as human as anyone else... Let them have their moment.4 -
