England’s Men’s ‘summer’ fixtures next year
2 -
Difficult to understand why there is a gap of 30 days for England matches and why we have no Ashes Test in August, when all the kids are off, isn't it. Why would anyone want to inspire them to play for England when you can inspire them to play for the Welsh Fire!6
-
Not a very "diverse" set of fixtures either, we seem to have played NZ every summer in one format or another for years. 12:30 is a strange time for those ODIs to start, a day night fixture without much play in the evening,0
-
probably because of the test championship, where we play nations that are at a similar level to us, rather than weaker sides.killerandflash said:Not a very "diverse" set of fixtures either, we seem to have played NZ every summer in one format or another for years. 12:30 is a strange time for those ODIs to start, a day night fixture without much play in the evening,0 -
Sitting in the dark & chilly September evenings watching cricket, no thanks.killerandflash said:Not a very "diverse" set of fixtures either, we seem to have played NZ every summer in one format or another for years. 12:30 is a strange time for those ODIs to start, a day night fixture without much play in the evening,0 -
Then why not start all the ODIs at 11am? I don't see the benefit of starting a few 1.5 hours laterCovered End said:

Do the decision makers think they'll sell more tickets, as people will buy to come later or are TV revenues better in the evening as more people watching?killerandflash said:

Either way, the spectators will be bloody chilly, unless they are wrapped up with decent jackets/coats.0 -
Is it the overnight dew factor?killerandflash said:

discovery of the white ball season ? .. Luke Wood .. a star in the Hundred .. a modern bowler with real pace and variations, a leftie and like namesake Mark and the Cullen Bros, not very tall but skiddy and on the right surface, very difficult to play .. pity is it's VERY unlikely he'll ever play test Cricket0

England won the toss & bat in the 2nd T20 v Pakistan. Starts 3.30pm.0

It's a good job Hales paid for all of his bat because not many have come off the middle!1
-
Who is this Malan bloke? Bowled first ball behind his legs!!!0
-
42-2 5.2 overs
Hales out
Malan bowled behind his legs again.0 -
Duckett batted very well for his 43 off 22. As a left hander, he is a viable alternative to Malan at 32
-
Brook is one hell of a talented batsman0
-
Batted, skipper0
-
199-5 off 20
Moeen with a superb 55 off 23
All 5 batsmen were bowled. That doesn't happen too often.

he's a differnt player to malan though, loves his big shots duckett - not a player to guide it through the gaps and keep the score ticking like malan and root do very well.Addick Addict said:Duckett batted very well for his 43 off 22. As a left hander, he is a viable alternative to Malan at 30 -
Moeen is so frustrating...that was a cracking knock but he's spoilt it all by bowling such a poor overAddick Addict said:199-5 off 20

Some of our bowlers were somewhat schooled there on a wicket that seemed to improve as the game wore on. Shame we won the toss!0
-
highest score ever in T20 anywhere to win by 10 wkts it seems .. Guinness World Record .. Hales' drop gave them the game though0

Certainly true in Luke Wood's caseAddick Addict said:Some of our bowlers were somewhat schooled there on a wicket that seemed to improve as the game wore on. Shame we won the toss!0 -
James Vince is another who could have been playing for England today instead of giving Kent fans squeaky bum time!0

A 5 match Ashes series all done by the end of July. Kids have 6 weeks off school & no Ashes matches to watch. Oh, but they can watch a 100 ball match which is not played anywhere else on the planet. It's a bit like VHS v Betamax. And the ECB are backing Betamax.2 -
only 1 international game in august is a disgrace.0

A real talent who plays proper cricket shots. He has the look of an Indian sub continent batsman who, from a very early age, has been coached to play straight and then added the bigger and more extravagant shots on to that. Which is why, unlike the Hales and Roys of the world, he can play red and white ball.Addick Addict said:Brook is one hell of a talented batsman1 -
England make 221 .. outstanding from Brook and Duckett3
-
That's not the case though. The major criticism of Malan in T20 has always been that he gets stuck in the Power Play and doesn't rotate. His strike rate eventually catches up if he stays in long enough for that to happen. Duckett, on the other hand, can play both sides of the wicket especially against spin which allows him either to hit a boundary or to get off strike. This series:kentaddick said:

Malan - 34 off 31 balls at a strike rate of 109.68 with 16 dot balls (51.61% dots to total balls)
Duckett- 134 off 81 balls at a strike rate of 165.43 with 13 dot balls (16.05% dots to total balls)0 -
24 hours later and we are schooling the Pakistan batsmen albeit that the extra pace of Topley and Wood has made all the differenceAddick Addict said:Some of our bowlers were somewhat schooled there on a wicket that seemed to improve as the game wore on. Shame we won the toss!2
