Let's face it - the decision to let MM go on a free was one of the worst the club has made in years. Even now I scratch my head at it.

Roland - you messed up big time here.

I Disagree actually. Whilst he would have been a useful squad member he was pants as a captain and an awful motivator.

Also not much of a ball player - which we currently have in our (admittedly too few) defenders.

Lovely bloke but wasn't the Beckenbauer people seem to think he was

Definitely not Beckenbaur but better than BeckenSarr and a far better captain than Solly.
Tough opponent for Sarr on his debut and he will have learned a lot from it. But would you have Lumbering Morro over Diarra?
Sarr will have far tougher opponents and Morrison will play more games than Diarra. I would have both over Sarr, it's a squad we need and Morrison is a decent squad player.

I didn't think he was all that last night
  • People writing off Sarr already after one game! Get a grip!

Lumbering? Come off it. He was brilliant for us. You're right, he might not be Beckenbauer but I don't think there's any value in remembering him as Gary Doherty either

Call me old fashioned but I like my Defenders to be able to Defend first and foremost. Morro could defend. I'd have him ahead of Sarr and Diarra clearly isn't a 46 game player anymore.

    Classic.....

The punctuation is misleading but I believe he is saying that he'd have Morrison ahead of Sarr while as Diarra isn't likely to play 46 games a season any more MM would've been good cover.

Not that Morrison would get in the side ahead of a fit Diarra.

Haha that is spot on, hopefully the Mrs isn't reading this. She's forever having a go about my spelling, punctuation, pre mat......

I'm surprised he was given a game... Even that was generous!!

Distance makes the best grow fonder as they say. I thought when he left Bikey and Ben Haim were better, and when they left Diarra and Bauer have ensued they weren't missed. Put it this way

    Morrison and Dervite

    Ben Haim and Bikey

    Bauer and Diarra

Out of the 3 pairs, I'd take the last one.

If I had to choose a squad with 4 defenders in it, he'd be 4th choice infront of Bikey and Dervite. I'd actually put Bikey infront of him if it's the early season Bikey

Gone to Cambridge from Pompey on a free. Think he could have done a job with us for a year or 2 in L1. Wiki says he has made 704 appearances in his career so far. Outstanding. Take a bow Mikey!

Seems he is not doing a job for Pompey who you would argue are fighting for similar outcomes as us.

Particularly remember Holden saying you could get at their centre back when we played them at Fratton Park.

What are you basing that on? If he was any use these days, Pompey wouldn’t be getting rid of him.

Started his career at Cambridge so could be a chance for him to go full circle and end it there.

Good luck to him. Served us well.

Best of luck MM - always will have a soft spot for one of the key members of that SCP team.
  • He'll get to play us 3 times this season!

Yeah, another old boy returning, that would quieten any revolt.

As much as I liked him for us, I think he's a bit past it these days.
  • Ha ain’t no 4th choice Ipswich reserve , so it’s a no from me

Very good in his day but maybe best left in our past. Class bloke though.

Not surprised, was glad we didn’t sign him in the summer. Great for us when he was here though. Can’t get used to him with hair.

Oh good, you're going to be posting this on every single thread. Fun.
  • I think even Lavelle would beat him over 100 metres so it’s a definite no for Morrison.

Likewise, I could ask you what are you basing your comment on? Morrison did a good job for us and other decent clubs since then so, clearly, he’s good enough, eh!? I thought he looked solid against us and as I said, my opinion is that he would be an asset in our final push. Okay mate?!

Maybe but Lavelle is 4th pick for us whereas Morrison has been a regular starter for Pompey who have been above us most of this season so not sure that’s the most important criteria for an effective CB

Calm down love. I am basing it on a bang average team getting rid of him and him being part of a defence that has conceded 6 against us this season. As for the bolded part, utter nonsense otherwise Cristiano Ronaldo wouldn’t be playing in Saudi Arabia.

it was a special group of players and individuals, haven't felt that close to the team since curbs' late 90s/early 00s side.

I liked him as he wore his heart on his sleeve and would always give 100% but I don’t think he was ever really that good technically and definitely wouldn’t have him now unless bought to be 4th choice
  • He turned up to watch us at the scum with Solly , can’t remember if they were injured or suspended.
