Summer Transfer Rumours - Deadline Day p446

The defeat today wasn’t due to the tactics, formation or a lack of effort - what’s clear is the squad lacks the quality we need.
Nothings changed from what we already knew - we need a couple of strikers plus strengthening in general across the squad to give us a stronger starting 11 and players who can change a game from the bench.
We’ve spent enough of the last decade or so in L1 to know where this squad currently is. Let’s hope the ownership and their management team understand too and we see the actions not words, as they said after the takeover completed.46 -

Yes we want to get our main target blah blah, but I still don't see why this stops us getting another target man striker in the meantime. Not a hot prospect, but a solid pro near the end of his career who can give us some desperately needed height and physical presence up front.
The longer this goes on, the more obvious it becomes that we are desperate, and the more Exeter will ask for Nombe .15 -
Strong target man to compete with Leaburn for partnership with May plus a RB/WB to replace Egbo who Asiimwe can learn from are what we need most of all IMO.0

If that line up us out best 11 barring Hector, Fraser and Leaburn we are seriously short. Payne must have rubber boots as he can't fucking control the ball for toffee, just bounces off of him constantly.2

Obviously need some reinforcements up top but if today’s match is anything to go by then we shouldn’t be in for JCH. A decent player but not worth the money being talked about and was virtually anonymous for most of the match6
-
So short. Need at least 5 or 6 to come in. Cb, rwb, x2 cm and x2 strikers10

We have a great bellwether of what it takes to get promoted from this division. 18/19 wasn’t too long ago and our squad realistically is absolutely nowhere near as good. In that side almost every player was capable of and went on to play at a higher level.Keeper: Phillips
Defence: Dijksteel, Pearce, Bauer, Sarr, Purrington
Midfield: Pratley, Cullen, Williams, Aribo, Bielik
Forwards: Taylor, Grant, Parker
Who out of our current squad gets in that 18/19 team?
Dobson for Pratley possibly. May for Parker and can arguably compete with Grant.
Honestly I can’t think of another player who even comes close.
Sobering comparison. We’re currently miles off.15 -

Finally it’s nice to see people seeing how far off we are without some being labelled as negative.
Definitely need another centre back, wing back, winger as CBT won’t last all season, 2 strikers and probably an attacking midfielder.
Lots of work to do before the window shuts. I’m not currently convinced the new owner’s understand the scale of work needed to get us where we want to be.26 -
6 signings in a fortnight is what it looks like it's going to take to get us competitive. Hopefully Andy Scott is ready to do some serious wheeling and dealing to get this squad where it needs to be.
Don't expect a striker in for Tuesday but for next Saturday it feels like a must. Can't go 4 games into the season with a bodged selection of strike partnerships because it's going to do May no good.7 -
Ladapo was an unused sub for Ipswich today. Kayden Jackson came on instead and scored so that might mean Ladapo is surplus to requirements, especially if they bring in another striker6
-
Also missing a talisman. Taylor and Kermorgant were ours when we went up in 2019 and 2012.10
-
I still think 4 quality additions will do it. If we bring in a quality CB, wing back, CM and ST then we’ll be in the top 6 and be in with a shout of 2nd behind Bolton. A couple extra would be nice but would be quite a task to see that much overhaul in one window0

Owen Moxon not in the Carlisle squad but apparently " injured" , possibly too similar to Taylor now to be a target though.0

RB - Junior Tchamadeu
CM - Owen Moxon
ST - Sam Nombe

I expect a striker for a fee and potentially a fee on a CB , midfield I think will be one of the PL loans - shame we couldn't get Jenson Weir.0 -
For me the new owners would be crazy not to go for it this year bearing in mind…
a) This is the weakest league one for years
b) Our best two players Dobson & CBT are likely to leave for free in the summer if we don’t go up (making the rebuild required next summer even bigger / more costly)2 -

Wanted us to sign Crichlow who played against us today as knew we’d be crying out for a left footed CB.1 -

Why would you want to sign the right back from Col U? He’s a year older than Asimwe who’s starting games a division higher and not looking at all out of place0
