If we sign both of them I’m slightly baffled2

Had to check that was the real O'Rourke when I saw that!4

Ikpeazu certainly would not be a "statement" signing like Coventry was, or Clark-Harris would be (have been?)
On the other hand, the idea that we actually do have some sort of actual contingency plan in place is encouraging. Having identified (correctly) the need for a big guy up front we've not panicked and thrown stupid money at JCH, nor (hopefully) left it till 10:59pm deadline day to sign a loanee.
This is definitely not one I'd be convinced to put in the "Elite 8" category but at the very least its someone with experience at this level not a gamble on a L2/non-league kid on a purple streak...3 -
I did think we would sign 2 strikers. Really pleased with the business we're doing so far in at least being in for some proper signings.

Leaburn and Chuks were playing during October.LargeAddick said:If Ikpeazu was of interest to us why did we not sign him in October when he was free?
Looking at his stats he’s only recently started playing the full 90 minutes. Before that he was almost being used like Chuks, starting and coming off or being subbed on.
Hopefully he’s built up his fitness from that and can make an impact fairly quickly.
On his goal record the Championship was probably a step too far for him, but to even get there in the first place without being a natural goalscorer must mean other areas of his game impressed.3 -
From cold turkey to OD in five minutes

We needed to sign two strikers so that that’s much better8

Bodes well for the summer window all this too. Not here just to nick a salary and plod along by the looks of things.6

Good thing it’s Friday tomorrow, we always sign at least two players.Henry Irving said:From cold turkey to OD in five minutes

Ikpeazu is not a replacement for CBT. He is a replacement for Tedic.
So Ladapo would still make sense.7 -
I….. I don’t know how to react to this…… This doesn’t happen here lol6

Clever fuckers, baited us with Uche and went for the premium deal.PWADDICK said:
What is going on?
Certainly softens the blow about JCH.

Same, especially due to the time, certainly the most active January I can recall with transfer gossip/linksCroydon said:Had to check that was the real O'Rourke when I saw that!1 -
Had to check that wasn't the fake O'Rourke account 🤣🤣🤣
I know they won't be done for Saturday unless they're having medicals now , but that's a very good step forward in terms of attacking options. If we then add Ward as Keeper cover, Edmonds-Green to cover the backline and possibly a No10 to replace Fraser (bit of a luxury move but if the right player becomes available it would be a nice move) that's a very strong window.5 -
The opposition?robroy said:My only worry is, where do the goals come from if May gets injured?8 -

I would agree with this if he had any pedigree whatsoever.Rothko said:The who point to this signing isn’t goals, it’s giving us a focal point up front to help Alfie and others, the idea that the only way to measure if a forward if good is goals, is just bumblings of utter simpletons0 -

Ikpeazu is to fill the Leaburn/Aneke gap. Ladapo is to fill the Tedic gap.
If we're going 352 then the CBT gap needs to be filled by a wingback10 -
Almost like we actually have a plan.Braziliance said:

I assume we are interested in the fella after playing against us.wmcf123 said:
Most of us would be a handful against our defenders . Truly appalling goal record for a striker with huge numbers of different clubsPavoren007 said:I thought Uche was an absolute handful at Vale Park and if that is the role which gives more space to Alfie and the midfielders to benefit from, all good with me. That said we would need goals from the central midfielders which have been rare thus far this season.
Before the game we'd probably not heard of him.
Who are our scouts btw?0 -
ladapo and the port vale fella will do for me - its all about next year and if we have them 2 added to with may and kanu and chucks and leaburn possibly playing some part then i think we will have a fair bit of ammunition for next years promotion charge. glad cbt is off- i'm totally bored with our style of play which seems to be get the ball to him and hope.17

I know someone would say that but at the time Chuks was out injured too so surely if someone who is on your radar was available on a free you’d be nuts not to add them to your squad especially when, at the time, there was a chance you would lose Miles in January. It was a low cost low risk no brainer surely.fenaddick said:
Because Leaburn wasn’t injuredLargeAddick said:If Ikpeazu was of interest to us why did we not sign him in October when he was free?1 -
I would like a LWB in on loan maybe and id be satisfied (I’m not stating who should be starting, just highlighting the depth in positions, expect Thomas/Anderson to go and maybe Dobson)

Wake me up before you go go we’ve got Uche May and Ladapo40
-
Can’t imagine Ladapo is a permanent?1

Definitely better names we're being linked with but we can only judge with who actually signs for us. Interesting couple of weeks ahead.5 -
Did Tedic leave a gap then??sam3110 said:Ikpeazu is to fill the Leaburn/Aneke gap. Ladapo is to fill the Tedic gap.
