That would be dumb. He played for us first. We could and should have hired him before Millwall did.paulie8290 said:
My mate has mentioned Rowett a few times and it wouldn't workRedRobin said:I’d like Rowett or Duff. Not sure either would come mind.
A run of 3/4 bad games and he would have the fanbase against him because of his Millwall connections
He did a good job at Millwall. They’ve done absolutely nothing since he left.
Managed millwall for 196
Loses 3/4 in a row and which one do you think the fans are likely to remember
All I'm saying is keeping fans onside is a big thing and Peeters Millwall connection went against him as soon as results did and I could see the same happening to Rowett0 -
Yeah he did. Fleming was assistant and Euell was first team coach I believeShowmetheway2gohome said:Wouldn’t Euell have worked with Curtis Fleming at Bristol city0 -
The issue is, that part of the reason Rowett left Millwall (apart from the obvious) was because he no longer wished to commute down from the midlands. Can't see him joining us sadly.golfaddick said:

Chris Powell played for Palace.2 -
Scott keeps banging on about getting players in who have experience with promotions out of league 1. Time to get a manager in with the same experience and pedigree to get us out of this tin pot league!
No point targeting so called quality players to mount a promotion push and have them managed/coached by someone with no success at all at any level!Get rid tonight!15 -
Don’t get this Nathan Jones love in. Made an absolute arse of himself last two jobs.6

Don't think he's very good at dealing with players with big attitudes / big egosSillybilly said:Don’t get this Nathan Jones love in. Made an absolute arse of himself last two jobs.
Given how he did at Southampton and Stoke
Cant fault though how he did as Manager whilst at Luton though2 -
No one gave a sh!t about Peeters’ Millwall connection. He was sacked because he lost the ability to win games.paulie8290 said:

He should have gone after the Cray Valley cup game debacle. Why anyone would expect him to improve with new players is ignoring his inability to get more from the squad he already had.13

My son said this, not beating an 8th tier team at home is a sackable offence in itself.valleynick66 said:He should have gone after the Cray Valley cup game debacle. Why anyone would expect him to improve with new players is ignoring his inability to get more from the squad he already had.6 -

I've not posted yet on my thoughts. However, having 'been awake' most of the night worrying about our plight (I know stupid isn't it!), it's now time, today, for MA to go. I was calling for his head previously, but then thought, OK give him the window to get his players in and see what transpires. I was optimistic before yesterday's game, new striker, new formation, newish midfield, BUT, same defence! Why? He had REG and Gillesphey on the bench, yet started with Ness and Jones (I rate Jones but he's off form at the moment). Ness isn't good enough. We started brightly, but yet another defensive error and we're 1 down. Obviously MA did zilch at ht, and we went 2 down within minutes. STILL no changes and MA had all the passion of a dead parrot! He looked lost, uninterested and bereft of ideas, that to me says everything! He MUST go or we're going down! Even Alfie looks completely pissed off....that tells a story in its own right!
Get rid now!5 -
If he does go we need to go with experience even if its just to know how to pick up enough wins and points to scrape to safety
to even have to say that is an embarrassment for our club!
getting appleton in was one of the biggest mistakes our club has made in recent times and thats quite an achievement !!1 -
GET MICHAEL DUFF he doesn't stand for shirkers, knows how to get the best out of Alfie and kept a league 2 level Cheltenham squad up with ease...oh and by the way the 2 wing backs are f##k#n# woeful!!2

It will never work if we stick to the same cycle, we need to give a manager time to work with the players that he actually recruited and wanted.

As long as that manager is not Michael Appleton I agree.Hal1x said:It will never work if we stick to the same cycle, we need to give a manager time to work with the players that he recruited.2 -
Can we change the name of this thread, as every time I see it, I get my hopes up for a split second.5

Or even keep this Charlton team in League 1?Croydon said:
What have you seen from Appleton to suggest he can coach a team to promotion next season?Hal1x said:It will never work if we stick to the same cycle, we need to give a manager time to work with the players that he recruited.
Honestly, it was so bad yesterday I am convinced that unless things change quickly we could be in League 2 next season.
Let that sink in and there is no justification whatsoever to keep Appleton.4 -
Agreed but starting from the next appointmentHal1x said:It will never work if we stick to the same cycle, we need to give a manager time to work with the players that he recruited.
Appleton has lost the fans, lost some of the players. Time will not heal this4 -
If you missed the start of this mornings Charlton Live, Louis Mendez was saying the board are meeting right now and have a decision to make on MA 🤷♂️5

The decision shouldn't be on Appleton. The decision is who to replace him withRedmidland said:If you missed the start of this mornings Charlton Live, Louis Mendez was saying the board are meeting right now and have a decision to make on MA 🤷♂️6 -
if it's true that the board are meeting this morning then there can only be one outcomeRedmidland said:If you missed the start of this mornings Charlton Live, Louis Mendez was saying the board are meeting right now and have a decision to make on MA 🤷♂️0 -
I said it last night and I'll gladly say it again. I really hope todays meeting is to discuss compensation and targets for his replacement
im hanging on Dubai's words here but I'm hoping the decision to wield the axe has been made4 -

We played well first half yesterday and I expected a response in the second half after being behind undeservedly.Goals happen at shit times and yesterday was definitely one of those because it would’ve totally ruined whatever was said the dressing room.
What baffled me is that he appeared to accept that the game was beyond our reach and let the XI on the pitch flail in desperation for 30 minutes rather than do anything about it. Kanu should’ve been thrown on 20 minutes earlier than he was.14 -
All I can see is a ongoing cloud of future despair, I think we will reprise this argument ad infinitum until we luck in on a Curbishley, who I think had the cushion of no transfer windows.Croydon said:
