Spoke too soon on the match thread when I asked if there was such a thing as a good game in league 1. After 20 mins of turpitude that was a cracker. Excellent battling performance. Some decent shithousery from us for a change as well. Thought young Anderson was magnificent. First time I’ve really rated him. Promising debut from Gladstone (well somebody had to….😉). Still conceding too many goals that we should be avoiding but it’s hard to be too critical after that. Could be an extremely valuable point. Watched some of it on the Bolton stream as our own kept buffering. Their commentators (who were very good) were not at all impressed by Jones’s antics on the touchline and occasionally on the pitch. Tough sheet really!

Very encouraging. We are improving. Portsmouth are flying; top of the league and in great form, so that’s a guaranteed 3 points for us next week too.

Blimey! Well I'd have definitely taken that before the game, both in terms of the overall result and us not caving to a sucker punch in that long period of injury time. Yeah, the state of the table isn't looking any better for us, but it could have been a lot worse. Looking forward to the EFL highlights for once tonight.
  • Terrific away point to pick up and that performance is going to have given a lot of the team a well needed confidence boost.

I said on Tuesday that I would rather have the performance than the result.

I think today we got the performance and the result. And obviously, it could have been more.

With things as tight as they are, an unexpected point could be massive. If nothing else, that performance should give the players a boost. We were sloppy at times at the back, but we're back to looking threatening going forward. And latter has been missing for a couple of months now.

We know that at our best we can give any team in this division a game. But it's the first time since so many new faces came in in January that we've looked that good for 90 minutes.

If those subs come on even 5-6 minutes earlier we might be speaking about things differently. But Jones now gets a week on the training ground with the players.

Lastly, this team is starting to come into a style and identity.

Another job he won’t be in that long either.

Hate dropping points to teams like that. Awful.

Much more like it. Kanu and Anderson stand outs. Keep performing like that until the end of the season and we will be ok.

Considering we like to beat Pompey and we have new found structure and energy, I think we might just beat Pompey

Karoy Anderson’s best game in a Charlton shirt. Top performance.
Still in serious trouble but Jones will give us a fighting chance.
Be a good atmosphere Saturday after that, looking forward to it.
I honestly don’t think we are. Still think Exeter and the likes will be dragged into it.

I honestly fancy us to get a result against Pompey next week!

One thing I didn’t notice - who took the captain’s armband when George went off?
Alfie wasn’t on at that point, so not sure who’s the next cab off the rank?

Heroic performance against the team with the best home record in league 1. Lots of good performances all over the pitch. Small, Kanu, Anderson all looked so much better, and we looked really up for it.
    Bring on Portsmouth.

Great result wasn't expecting that at all. Let's hope thats the start of the rest of the season.

It almost feels a little bit disappointing after taking the lead twice. However a brave and courageous performance and we were worth sharing the spoils!

Pompey 4 1 today but stats suggest they aren't completely dominant

Mention for Isted who played very well despite conceding 3 goals.

  • Why oh why didn't we sack Appleton 3 or 4 weeks before we did?
Yep. Should have gone after the Orient shambles - standing there like a lemon with his hands in his pockets

Very good team performance except for our standard ineptitude at the back.

First half was especially good. We totally nullified them with our hard pressing and work rate to the point where they had to resort to quick lumps forward. Shame we couldn't keep that up for 90 mins but we still competed with them well in the second half. Pleased for kanu to get a goal as he gave his all today. If we perform like that against Portsmouth then we defo have a chance for a long overdue 3 points.

Encouraging debut from small as well. Seems to have genuine pace and power and put in more quality crosses today than we've seen from our full backs all season. Still raw but fits this formation far better than Edun.
  • Good performance, nice to see us employing some of the dark arts for a change.

Great point, great from Anderson and Kanu, great shithousery from Isted and great to see Small play well and last 90+ mins. Just great.

    Cheers. 👍🏼
He would’ve been my guess, but couldn’t see an armband on him!
