    On  way home, shorter journey than @Croydon I suspect. Only other points I'd make, I thought Jones was standout mom. Although comments made about our dark arts, their 20k crowd were going bonkers at us, that was refreshing!
    Alfie came on like a bat out of hell, proper fired up, but was the only player to go straight down the tunnel without going to the fans.

    A confidence boasting performance. Showed real character and fight. Really pleased that Daniel Kanu got his goal. He put in such a shift, as did the whole team.

    Yes, the table looks horrible but we scored 3 bloody goals! That is a miracle in itself especially at Bolton of all places.

    Of course Pompey and Derby will not be easy but just don't get beat are my and then really go for it with the remaining games, there's no point in defending games, we're crap at that so make sure we score more goals. 

    Nathan has restored my faith and will definitely motivate the players for sure but what the hell did Apples do to them... 

    Its in our hands, it really is. 

    By the way no Louie Watson, so is he out of favour now?

    However, where is Terry Tomatoes? He's disappeared now, saw him do 90 minutes the other week and then poof gone!

    All things considered that was our best performance of the season.
    The closing down and effort was a joy to see, although it should have always been like that.
    Let's hope we can now produce that effort every game.

    Excellent tactics from Nathan Jones. 
    Let's play on the front foot and push forwards instead of fannying around at the back achieving the square root of £$%$ all.

    Everyone played at least decent, but special shout outs to Kanu and Anderson who were superb considering their youth.

    Istead looked solid and so much better than AMB.
    Jones was very solid, plus he scored.
    Small was very good on debut, has some physique for a 19 year old and even scored.

    Coventry, Dobson, Thomas and Ladapo all put in shifts and played well.
    Aneke of course caused them problems straight away and Camara looked decent.

    Gillesphey and May were ok subs.

    REG and T Watson were ok, although both partially at fault for goals.

    IF we can produce that level of performance for the rest of the season we will not be relegated.

    Heading back to my Air BnB in Manchester…very very good point. Shame to concede three. Really not sure what Dobbo was doing for their second. 

    Subs came a bit late, we needed change that midfield up a bit earlier. All three on bookings and couldn’t engage. 

    Ref was absolutely appalling, every 50/50 went the way of Bolton usually leading to a booking for us. 

    Kanu MOTM. Ran his socks off, held the ball up well, fantastic game from him.

    Now for a curry in Manchester.

    Jones was clearly under no illusion when he joined us and I think all us fans know what could happen...

    However, at least know he's going to go for it... There's no point in our boys passing back and bloody forth defending we just have to go after teams. 

    We need a bit of siege mentality home and away and we can be the 12th man.

    We have a chance. 

    By the way loved Nathan's moonwalk reference.

    Alfie - that is worrying
    Maybe he feels like he doesn’t deserve a clap. I’m not saying that this is the case but if he came on, gave his all as usual and then went off quickly, it sounds as though he’s determined to get back on track before taking the praise. From what I’ve seen of him and given his background, this is my guess.

    First time this season every single player can hold their heads high. Showing the fight that is needed. A special mention to Kanu, incredible work ethic and so happy he topped it off with a goal. Saw Bolton fans bemoaning defensive errors but I think a lot of that was forced by our relentless pressing.

    Chuks once again a good luck mascot. When he gets on the pitch this season we don’t lose

    Would've thought May had the hump with not being included in the starting 11 and I wouldn't expect anything less from the bloke.

    Not gonna name check any, but there have been too many players who've been dropped over the last couple of seasons and seemed pretty content with that, or at least didn't outwardly show any disappointment. 

    Maybe not having competition in the squad or ideas to include other players has been part of the problem?

    Still conceding bad goals. Maghoma made an absolute dick out of Dobson for the second and REG is nowhere for the third. Need to stop letting in avoidable goals if we're going to win games again. Good debut for Small, hope he maintains it. It's looking like a tough time for Edun; he had a good cameo against Lincoln but he's very much not a Jones style wingback. Jones wants his wingbacks to provide width and pace whereas Edun is very much a player who likes to cut inside and provide overloads in midfield instead. 
    Spirited performance today and I'm minded of Jones insisting repeatedly in his Lincoln interview that the team will keep getting better the more time they have on the training pitch. With the players we have there's really no reason we can't be beating Pompey and Derby, we're just a psychological mess. This team turning out this performance would have killed the Derby we played a few weeks ago, so I'm hopeful that this level of effort keeps up and the quality starts to come in. If we can go into the bottom of the table clashes with another 4 points we'll be looking ok

    First game I've enjoyed from start to finish since I can't remember when?
    All of them put a solid shift in.
    If we could get the same result from the next two games I would be very pleased. Sneak a win and I'll be ecstatic.

    It does make you wonder how the likes of Appleton ever get work? The contrast couldn't be more different. His passionless hands in pockets approach was an embarrassment  for the profession.

    Got home at 18.20, so all good for an away fixture! It really was an exciting game, with neither team backing down in challenges. The work rate from the Addicks was the best I've seen this season. Kanu and Lapado up front pressed high up the pitch, wich gave their goalie issues, he was unsure about playing out from the back. Dobbo and Coventry also pressurised well. Bolton have a very mobile, quick moving midfield and we negated that effectively.
    Bolton play a high line, and Freddie and especially Kanu exploited this with constant runs causing them many problems.
    The referee was poor, ignoring grappling from their players but penalising ours for the same offence. Some silly yellows for kicking the ball away.
    I guess the thing I take away from the game was the energy we showed all over the pitch, and also some skill showed by players. I know everyone says that effort is expected from any professional team, but this was exceptional and coordinated, and on occasions Bolton looked a little rattled.
    Small had a brilliant debut, bar his misplaced pass early in the game, and if we can get Ramsay fit then 3-5-2 looks more acceptable.
    My only criticism, which I say after every game, is that set piece delivery is poor. Coventry floated in a couple of ineffective corners, and even Alfie had a go late on , which barely reached the near post. The best delivery was from Small, a left footed inswinging corner that was good. Perhaps we should develop our short corner routine more, we actually scored from one today.

    Didn’t watch the match, didn’t follow the match, thought we were onto a loser. But I’m absolutely delighted with a point. Have just watched the goals on Sky Sports. Thought Small’s cross into the box was a peach and Lapado was unlucky not to get a flick. So, we deserved that one. I’m loathed to criticise but all of their goals might have been prevented if we’d been a bit tighter on them. But this is League One football. How many times did their player turn in the box for the second. Could’ve got a foot in there, I reckon. Still, looking forward to next week. Bring on Pompei …

    PWR so likely has already been said, but 2 things stood out for me. 1) the work rate and determination was much improved. Yet to be seen if they can maintain that but it’s a huge improvement. 2) for the first time in I can’t remember how long I watched us and felt there was a clear game plan and the players looked like they had been drilled on what their individual jobs were. The second one is very encouraging. 

    Other than that, Isted looks less skittish than AMB which I think is helping the defence, but he still doesn’t seem to actually save much. 

    Jones looks back towards his best and was arguably MOTM today even though we conceded 3. 

    Promising debut from Small and even Watson had a decent game. 

    Dobson and Coventry played better together today and weren’t getting in each other’s way as much. 

    If we can keep all 4 strikers fit and they keep working like they are then I think that alone should keep us up. 

    Still a worry that we shipped 3 goals as another week we probably lose that match as we won’t get a fortunate equalizer like we did today but I also agree with Curbs that against anyone but one of the top sides we’d probably have won today. Question is, how much of the improved effort was due to us playing a top side. 

    So, reasons for optimism but also reasons to keep it cautious. Having any positives at all to talk about though feels like a big step forwards from the last days of Appleton.

    Great result, well pleased for those that went.  Wasn’t sure what to expect before the game, and when I heard we’d gone 1 down I thought it will probably be a write off

    As much as I’m pissed off at how badly Scott and Methven have screwed this season up, we absolutely have to stay up.  Fingers crossed this is the result to pick the confidence up
