Surely goal line technology cannot really be as expensive as suggested by the league. There must be some agenda surely. It’s not cheap, and not simple.1 -
It seeme many are saying the same thing. Poor team with no creativity & no midfield so we have to resort to hoof hall. Therefore yet another overhaul in the summer is required.
My fear is that such an overhaul will not be within the budget of the owners & although we will replace some players it wont be enough for even a top 6 challenge.
At least Jones says he wants 99% of it done before pre-season & so we will know where we are by early July rather than late August.2 -

Yes we battled but very little means of actual playing neat football. Yet we could/should have won it if the line had seen the Dobson effort go over the line, the ref had seen the shirt pull on on Lapado for a penalty and if Alfie finishes the 1 on 1,
The performances today and at Fleetwood show this squad of players won’t get us promoted next season - We need to get 5 or 6 better players to have a realistic chance of going for it next year.
For our remaining games I would like to see us set up to play some decent attacking football and not the battling long ball stuff we’ve played the past month.
Highlight today was meeting some old friends and family in the Imperial before the game - must be a lovely setting in the summer0 -

I'm more concerned that curing the sick patient by replacing every dysfunctional organ will lead to a long recovery period, but we did similar under Powell successfully.

Outsung by a group of 9 year olds to our left. How low can it get, group of kids singing Charlton get battered, and they weren't wrong for the majority of the game.
I thought their main stand had excellent support, probably some of the best I've seen tbh. I'm a bit miffed how we can't seem to control a midfield yet again, when you see a performance like that, you do wonder if we need a whole new squad bar a few.
Last little moan, what on earth is their road system about? no entries everywhere, zebra crossing on every corner it felt like, proper excessive.
One and done job that for me, first time going Exeter and deffo a ground tick last.
Jesus wept, I think the last time I actually enjoyed watching a game of footie was Derby away. 6 games to go with 4 of them at home. Need to see some better performances than a few of the ones turned out recently. Just want this season over with. Fkn shit league.
I imagine most of these players will be here next season and the football is pants. I can't ever question the effort levels, as that's what's earned us points away to the likes of Derby and Bolton, but the lack of skill on show is bizarre. They're meant to be professionals.
None of our players really look impressive with the ball at feet, none of our players can dribble past a man with the odd exception of Small and Aneke bulldozing. None of our midfielders can dictate the pace of the game from the middle and they all seem to rush it a bit.
I know it was bad, as in the first half I spent the majority of the game noticing Gillesphey either just inside or outside our 18 yard box. Second half their centre back Aimson (who I thought looked really decent tbh) was up on the half way line. We were pinned in against Exeter. If they were a bit more clinical or had more about them up top, the game would have been out of sight by 80 mins. The match stats are very deceiving imo as most of our shots were pants and despite us edging possession, Exeter looked far more comfortable with the ball at their feet than we did.
Genuinely a horrid game of football, 444 mile round trip to watch that shit. Drives home like that I just wish I'd paid the tenner instead.7 -
Not the greatest of games
Despite the problems on the trains was still a good day out
First time visit for me but can’t complain
Station by the ground and pub by the ground
Old fashioned ground with turnstiles
Draw a fair result but could have nicked it in the end
Im too long in the tooth to complain about the game
Charlton till I die

Considering we're playing 3 centre backs and 3 energetic midfielders, it's concerning we still can't keep clean sheets.
Because there are no obvious centre backs we can say are the weak link which will be fixed by replacing them. So the worry is, it's all of them.
Obviously the GK is a gimme for improvement though.3 -

All our midfielders were so poor yesterday, Coventry had some decent moments but overall it was so unimpressive. Quite literally 0 creativity from the middle. The best work from the middle ironically came from May where he took the ball, turned and sent it on the wings.
I don't think Karoy is ready to be starting week in week out for a League 1 promotion chasing side, he should be a bench option next season. I think Coventry needs to show more and justify his price tag, Dobson is gone as there's no way we should be paying a fee for him.
I don't like any of our other options with the exception of maybe Terry Taylor if we see him play again. So we are looking at signing at the very least, two new midfielders next season to play with Coventry. It's really important we get it right cause other than a few succesful loans, its been a position we have failed to recruit for successfully for a number of years now imho.
Maybe I'm being too negative but I really thought yesterday was quite a sobering experience.7 -
I know Bakinson isn’t very popular here, but yet again he came on and made a difference. Dobson & Cov had poor games, and Exeter’s midfielders looked better quality, which is a worry.Bakinson at least moves us forward and gets into good positions - and I think it was his cross to Aneke that led to the goal.Anderson was poor again, and definitely needs a rest. It wouldn’t be good for his confidence to keep playing him when he’s off form.12

I have to agree with NJ completely.
looked tired and as always wasted so many chances to score and win the game.
NJs substitutions we’re spot on, as they usually are but overall a disappointing game 👎0 -
Do we ever play well following an International Break ?4

Rarer still for a full game...
Incomprehensible for a full season!!
Did we all dream a 101 points season in this god forsaken league?3 -

Confused why Bakinson gets so few minutes, considering the impact he made at Cheltenham. What the situation is with Taylor, who isn't playing in the U21s either, and what the point of keeping L Watson and Fiorini is, if they're so far off the first team. They might as well be training with their parent clubs. And indeed what's happened to Camara, who should surely be fitter than a month ago.7 -
One thing the technology has shown at higher levels, is that the whole of the ball crossing the whole of the line is actually a higher threshold than the naked eye thinks. Shots which look clearly over the line turn out to be only 90% over the line, ditto that Japanese cross at the world cup which looked like it had crossed the line, and hadn't.2

I'm sure the technology isn't cheap and unless it is funded by the Premier League I think it is reasonable that League One clubs don't have it. And whilst maybe some clubs could implement it, it has to be all or none IMO.0 -

The EFL could find it from their central revenue as they do in the Championship, but that’s doesn’t make a good rant.

I rather enjoyed the pre-match amble amongst the memories from Curbs, Brownie, Scott and Lisbie...the rest of the program was best forgotten...even the usually reliable Alfie couldn't cheer up proceedings, what a cock up that was in the last minute!!!0

Classy moment from Purrington when he came over to the Charlton fans at the side of the pitch for us to share in his goal celebrations 🙄2

keeps the unbeaten show on the road, better a few boring draws than a few entertaining defeats, if not perhaps for those who are seeking the perfect performances1
