Ben Duckett is opening for Notts today, which makes you wonder why Zak isn't playing yet.0

Zak Crawley is following ECB advice to not feature any two matches of the first section of Vitality County Championship fixtures this year. The right-hander has therefore decided to miss Kent’s first two matches of the 2024 season, making himself available to play for Kent across all formats until England’s Test Series with West Indies in July, barring any further international call-ups.

England Under-19 wicket-keeper and former Lancs academy player, Jack Carney, will be given a number of games in our 2nd XI.

Play abandoned for the day. Who would have thought that would be possible on 5th April. It's not as if the month is known for showers is it?2

Weird for the Kent wicket keeper production line to dry up, but he looks a sensible signing when we've already got Billings for the Blast and Finch, who's "good enough" for everything else.0 -
I imagine the outfield was bad, as there's so far been a full day's play at Lord's and Edgbaston, and it's not raining in Kent.0
-
Think Lancs are stacked at keeper with Buttler,Salt and George Bell. So probably not a lot of first team opportunities for Carney.0

The recent Kent keeper production line was very much as a result of the work of Ray Willis (age group and specialist keeping coach) and his son Simon (former 1s keeper and Head Academy Coach), neither of which are heavily involved at Kent any longer but who were big influences on Billings, Robinson and Cox. Equally, Lancashire have Jos Buttler, Phil Salt, George Bell (England U19), George Lavelle and Matthew Hurst (England U19) who all keep so Carney is going to struggle to get a game in their 2nd XI let alone the first team.0 -
It's far too early to start thinking about relegation but I'm not sure that I am comfortable with the fact that Worcestershire, one of the other sides tipped up to go down, are 177-1 against Warwickshire. At least one poster on here will be happy with that!1

Addick Addict said:One suspects that, depending on whether we opt to play a spinner, the team will look like this:
Compton
Muyeye
DBD
Leaning
Denly
Finch
Evison
Agar
Gilchrist
Singh
Parkinson (Garrett/Bhuiyan)
Kent 48-0 after 14 overs.1 -
59-1
Muyeye bowled Gregory 33 (54)1 -
DBD (6 off 9) gone too to Gregory
69-20 -
We really do need the batsmen to perform because there isn't much hope for our tail wagging when the highest in the order of "9, 10, Jack" has a FC batting average of 6.25 and once achieved the record of six ducks in a row including three goldens!

First collapse of the season! Woohoo!2
