Ebanie Bridges slams decision that sees two boxers cleared to compete at Olympics despite failing gender eligibility tests as IOC defends itself | talkSPORTI'm not sure they're trans, they might just have a DSD (disorder of sexual development) similar to Caster Semenya. But if that means they've gone through male puberty that gives them a massive advantage in musculature and bone structure, which in a sport based around punching moves the issue from fairness into the realm of safety. The IOC's stance on this has been dreadfully wishywashy:5

Every Olympics there is a superstar in the pool and the home favourite Marchand is the man in 2024.
Two golds in individuals and a chance for one more tonight.0 -

Make that 3 golds for Marchand in the 200 metres breast stroke.
History is made with Two individual golds in one session.0 -

I know its intended to be down to the fear that the likes of UEFA will take it as an opportunity to combine the Nations for the Euros and World Cup etc.
But is it not the same fear for the Women's game?
In terms of Rugby, Fiji have shown the way to go. You need pace and power and France got that but we haven't. I'm sure the sort of players needed are available.0 -
Mandatory for the women but for the 1st time that I can remember, no head guards for the men in Olympic boxing; I wonder why this change has taken place in 2024 ?
This would've been discussed with medical experts.

As ever with boxing sadly the ruling bodies decisions make little sense.1 -
I have watched 4 bouts. In each one the person I thought had won lost. Of course it must mean I am not knowledgeable enough, I appreciate that, but it takes away any fun I get from watching it.3

I wonder if the national FAs are worried that the public might start to think "hang on, why don't we enter a UK team in the world cup and actually try to win it?" Not so much of a risk now that England are up there challenging for trophies regularly, but back in the 70s or 80s some people might have been tempted.

Rugby is different, in that the home nations are more closely matched, as shown by the Lions teams.0 -

Bronze in Women's Double Sculls0

Creditable bronze in the double skulls. A lot of word salad from the commentators though.
