Even so 4th or 5th is excellent compared to the other teams around us.
China & US - biggest 2 countries (that are here)
Oz get a lot of their medals in the pool. Not as good as others on the track.
France - host country so naturally will do well
Golds first makes more sense to me.
Seems to go against the ethos of "its the taking part that matters..."
Indeed its 1st is everything, 2nd is nowhere.

When did they decide to allow 9 runners in 100m races? Isn't the point of 9 lane tracks to allow the inside lane to be empty?0
-
Michael Johnson channeling Capt Kirk tonight.3

really feel for Hinchliffe, I don't think anyone's ever run sub 10 in an olympic semi and not qualified before today0

Hodgkinson is incredible. Even for a Semi Final that was impressive.3
-
She looks like she could run another 800m race straight after that, and go faster.0

What a fantastic men’s 100m final1
-
What a 100m final! Seven men running under 9.90
-
Absolutely brilliant final with so many PBs,National Records and Seasons Bests. Didn't think Lyles had it at first!2
-
9.91 to come last ...
Weird why the race started so late, were they copying Charlton kickoff times?0 -
I quite like Lyles, the guy is very brash and cocky but he certainly backs it up.
Triple sprint gold at the world championships last year, now winning gold here in his 'weaker' event. Odds on to win the 200m and i'd assume the USA are clear favourites for the 100m relay.1 -
Did the long wait help the showman Noah Lyles ?
The brilliant blue ribbon race lived up to it's billing and it was nearly impossible to call as the heats didn't reflect how the final played out.
9.91 and last for Seville tells you the quality of that final.0 -

3 pts for Gold, 2 for Silver & 1 for Bronze.
10 for gold, 3 for silver, 1 for bronze.

Got my first look at this new Kayak Cross event today. Pleased to see that (a) we seem to have realistic medal contenders in both men's and women's races and (b) it's every bit as mad as it sounded from the written descriptions. Great stuff.2

Quite a relief to hear the quiet, considered expertise in the Athletics studio after the barmy gymnastics commentary team.
Three legends of the sport, Denise Lewis, Jessica Ennis-Hill and Michael Johnson - mind you I'm not sure if Michael Johnson is not blotting his copy book with his 'Grand Slam Track' project. Creaming off the best of the athletes to perform on four occasions each year with decent money up for grabs. I'm not against athletes earning good money, but is this really for the good of the sport or simply a monetising project for investors? How will the grand slam track work?Grand Slam Track's format will slot athletes into one of six event groupings—the 100 and 200; the 110-meter hurdles and open 100; 200 and 400; 400-meter hurdles and open 400; 800 and 1500 meters; and the 3,000 and 5,000—with every athlete competing in both events at each “slam.” Meets will take place over three days0 -

Going well in the mixed triathlon. Feel like Potter needs someone she can cycle with though, strongest leg is running so don't want her gassed out.0
-
Potter looks cooked unfortunately. Hope I'm wrong0

Ah man, looked like it was going to be gold for so long there.0

What happened to the gold rush?0
-
I thought she'd just failed to get silver at the end, but she managed it! knackering! (and chafing)
